Voters Seek Electable Candidate, But Remember Kerry In 2004?
In 2004, liberal Democrats saw their chosen candidate crash and burn in Iowa, as caucus-goers spurned Howard Dean for the safe, electable alternative: John Kerry.

With four years to regret their decision, Iowa Democrats now face a similar choice. Sen. Hillary Clinton is painting herself as the sturdy, reliable candidate who can carry the party back to the White House.

Democratic voters seem to agree. A recent New York Times-CBS News poll showed that 63% of Democrats see Clinton as the most electable, vs. 14% for Sen. Barack Obama.

Republican voters, in the same poll, saw Rudy Giuliani as the most electable by a wide margin, though that may change as his front-runner status fades.

but this year, it's totally different.

1. If Clinton is the most electable then I am the next Gov of Wisconsin.

No one will motivate the Right and maximise their turnout better than Hillary.

Hillary would be an absolute disaster for downticket races.

3. Sure, but Bill can't run
I've known Bill Clinton, I worked for Bill Clinton. I gave money to Bill Clinton. I've spent time with Bill Clinton.

And Hillary Clinton is NOT Bill Clinton.

4. I was one of the early Kerry folks
I thought he was a sure thing.

This year my vote is going to the one who is speaking for me.

It ain't Hillary. She says she can play nice with the other side and get things done. How well has that worked for us since 2006?

I want someone who is ready to fight 'em tooth an nail - who will come to us as say this is our way to fix this and ask us to get on board against those who will do their best to stand in our way. If ther are more of us then their are of them and we aer willing to join the fight - we win.

That ain't Hillary either...

6. mostly agreed
i wasn't an anyone supporter (back then, i was ready to back any Dem) until the day Howard Dean came to Boston and had a rally in Copley Square. i work about 1/2 a mile from there so walked over there to see him (and i didn't really know too much about him before that day) and pretty much fell in love. he was speaking for me, and saying things that most Dems weren't.

i was disappointed when he lost, but then started getting into Kerry. i'm glad that happened though, as it made me really know my Junior Senator and love him.

and yes, that ain't Hillary by a long shot.

5. Is there any reason why you want to continue sourcing that wingnut rag?
Obama And His Night At The Oprah:

Before the surge succeeded, John Burns of the New York Times warned that the type of — what's the word? — precipitous withdrawal advocated by Obama would lead to "cataclysmic violence." Obama's response? As AP reported, "Presidential candidate Barack Obama said Thursday the United States cannot use its military to solve humanitarian problems and that preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn't a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces there."

Obama, who has said he thinks "it's a disgrace we haven't talked" to the likes of Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong-Il, Bashar Assad, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez, thinks our difficulties with these thugs are all America's and George W. Bush's fault. He promises to "engage in aggressive personal diplomacy with Iran" if elected president. But talking to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not like talking to Oprah on her show.

Former Clinton guru Dick Morris thinks Obama is "a Jimmy Carter, running for president on his personal moral outlook, his background and making a virtue out of his limited knowledge of how American government works." Or American foreign policy.

Obama may want to have Ahmadinejad for dinner, but mad Mahmoud would have Obama for lunch.

Obama Blames America First:

INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY

Posted 11/5/2007

Politics: If elected president, the freshman senator promises to "engage in aggressive personal diplomacy with Iran." This means he'll squeeze Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's hand really hard when he gives away the store.

In an ironic sense of timing, the former Illinois state legislator made that pledge just days before the supporters of Iran's delusional dictator celebrated the 28th anniversary of the takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran on Nov. 4, 1979.

The 52 hostages held for 444 days were the direct result of Jimmy Carter's "aggressive" human rights agenda that deposed a staunch ally, the Shah of Iran, and brought to power the first leader of an Islamofascist state, the Ayatollah Khomeini.

We suspect Obama's foreign policy would be no different — except for the sweater — than Carter's, and just as successful. We get that impression after reading Obama's interview in Friday's New York Times.

16. So even though you know it RW thrash,
you absolve yourself from responsibility because it comes to you via Google?

How principled!

Speaking as someone with nothing but criticism for Hillary, if that's the best way you can think of to criticize Hillary (sourcing RW rags), I'd say that's pretty desperate.

15. Dean Would Not Have Done Any Better
The Mighty Slime Machine did him in with the "Scream", remember? That was all it took to destroy Dean's campaign utterly.
