I thought at least he'd get through the primary before he started throwing mud and playing up the Jesus card. He's turned into a classic Republican fundie asshole ahead of schedule. So much for the image of being a nice, reasonable guy who refuses to be a hater.

2. Huckabee is a used car salesman...
...and should be treated as such.

That just means watch his TV commercials for their entertainment "values", but never, never never buy anything from him.

3. You've got to cut Ol' Huck a break....
...because 4 days from now his Christer Licence expires and then half the idiots he sings to won't want to hear word one about his "personal savior" until next spring after he dies but then magickly returns to hide chocolate candies for all the good little 25%ers....or whatever the myth was.

I still think Huckabee's brand of zealotry is dangerous...though I hope I am wrong on that.

9. I always get a kick out of how little the fundies understand their own holy book.
You'd think that they'd never actually read the thing, or at least read some abridged version which skipped all the good parts. They keep forgeting that what got their boy executed was the religious establishment figures who felt his message of "just be a good person" threatened their system of religion by organization and rule-following.

4. If he pulls the crucifix out to appear holier than thou against members of his own party...
What can we expect him to do to our candidate if he is the repug nominee? Huckabee is a dangerous asshole, spreading the word of hate wherever he goes.

10. What DIDN'T he do? He said that gays were a sinful aberration of nature

and a public health menace, and suggested rounding up and quarantining HIV patients as late as 1992. He compared gay marriage as one step away from marrying a dog. He called abortion a "holocaust" and thinks we wouldn't need to import Mexican labor if all those women hadn't aborted their babies instead of letting them grow up to pick our lettuce. He ignored the pleas of rape victims and set a violent criminal free to re-offend, because he hated Bill Clinton. He personally prevented a mentally-retarded 15 year old girl from receiving a state-funded abortion after her step-father raped her. He downplayed the fact that his psychopathic son beat, stoned and hung a dog and slit its throat by saying the dog was sick and needed to be put down. He also fired the chief of state troopers for not helping cover up his son's sick crime. He is a true hateful asshole, and corrupt to boot.

I thought the poster you replied to was being disingenuous in their question. But you answered it brilliantly.:toast:

13. I didn't know some of this...
Apparently David Huckabee is a cruel, sadistic b@$^@rd.

The fact that Huckabee thinks his son's cruelty is no big deal indicates to me that he's probably just as sadistic and just hasn't been caught acting on it. (animal cruelty infuriates me beyond reason)

Here's a link to a Newsweek story on the son's past: http://www.newsweek.com/id/78241/

Bad enough he's religiously insane. Apparently that's not the only reason for me to dislike him.

5. During his term as governor, he was known to freeze out all those who disagreed with him.
Hmmm.... sounds very familiar.

14. At least he's showing his true colors now...
As opposed to the "compassionate conservatism" of George W. Bush. I think that, upon further reflection, he'll be certified as insane, however.

15. He never had a chance. Just a fluke; the neocons are hammering him.

Not that he doesn't deserve to be bashed. He does - he's a nut. But it's amazing how fast the REAL power wing of the Republican Party - not the "religious right," or as I call them, the "useful dolts" - went into action when he blindsided them. The FReepers are parroting the message now that Rush, Fox News and tools like Robert Novak and George Will have turned their firepower on Huckabee. The GOP voters will do as they are told; they fall into line once the ridicule starts, no matter how much theocracy they may otherwise desire.

Huckabee deserves it. He's a scary dude. But it's interesting to see them "Swift Boat" one of their own. Their chosen Golden Boy, Giuliani, isn't looking so hot right now. I'm guessing they will fall in behind Mitt, who will do their bidding and say and do anything to get elected. Like W. Except he's a Mormon, and that will be a problem in turning out the dolt vote. The GOP is in trouble in 2008, but they should never be underestimated.
