What is it about the lack of yard signs/bumper stickers |
|
in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas? I went to visit in laws in DFW, and we deliberately took the long route through various suburbs, looking for yard signs and bumper stickers. In the three days we were there, the only '08 political bumper sticker we saw was ours. And there were exactly 4 yard signs--2 for Ron Paul, and 2 for a local councilman. In talking to my in laws, liberals all, NONE were excited about the race at all, and didn't even want to talk politics. I'm thinking that people are sick of do-nothing politics and are worried about their own economics.

1. I doubt if many signs will be around until prior to the states' primaries |
|
That's usually the way things go.

2. Not many states put up yard signs until after a nominee is selected unless |
|
they're one of the big 3 primary states.

4. Primaries in Texas aren't until March |
|
Arkansas and Oklahoma are on Super Tuesday, Feb. 5th. A lot of homeowners' associations don't allow yard signs until a certain number of weeks before the primary. Besides that, some candidates don't even have them available until closer to the primary. They cost $$$, and some candidates will be out of the race before Super Tuesday, and most will be out after it.

5. It says something about Ron Paul's organization, then, |
|
that he's gotten signs out. The only GOP bumper sticker I've seen is for him, and that was in AR near where I work. I just remember lots more bumper stickers being around in '04.

6. None of the campaigns has directed any attention toward Texas. As usual the Democrats in TX |

are treats as a cash machine by the Democratic party and as idiot cousins by the Greedy Oil Party

7. I just drove through DC, VA, NC, SC, GA, and |
|
I've seen a total of 3 yard signs (2 for Ron Paul, one for Romney) and about 5 bumper stickers (3 for Obama, 1 for Hillary, one for Ron Paul). And I've seen a lot of Ron Paul signs on the side of the road, by the highway and such.
I've overheard a lot of people discussing politics, but I think they're waiting for the primaries to start before they dive in.
