Poll: Clinton the most admired woman in America
same poll, shows George W. Bush to be the most admired man in America. that's good company.

They're the odd couple again: George Bush and Hillary Clinton, the most admired man and woman in America.

Though they stand on opposite sides of a political divide, the Republican president and the Democratic senator from New York are sharing the honor for a sixth straight year, according to a USA Today-Gallup poll.

They didn't win by much. Oprah Winfrey and Clinton's husband, former president Bill, were right behind.

6. I dunno, but I think for most people it's just an issue of name recognition only.
I cite GWB's presence on this poll as an example.

8. The rest of the story...
When people were asked to name the man they most admire, 10 percent picked Bush, his lowest figure in the seven years he has been president. Bill Clinton got 8 percent - within the poll's margin of sampling error - while Nobel Prize winner and former Vice President Al Gore had 6 percent and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, a presidential hopeful, was chosen by 5 percent.

Whoever is president has won the most-admired title every year since 1981.

Sen. Clinton, hoping to be president-elect by the time of the next poll, was named by 18 percent as the most-admired woman, the 12th time she's been in the top spot. Talk show host Winfrey came in a close second with 16 percent.

First lady Laura Bush and actress Angelina Jolie were each selected by 3 percent.

12. How are Bush and Hillary Clinton on "opposite sides of a political divide"?
She voted for his wars and wants to allow him to go into Iran. She hasn't done anything to stop his agenda, except to promote his agenda for the most part.

18. Hilary and W could change clothing and who would know the difference!
She is a lifelong republican in drag, W is just, ah, um - well, not much different dressed as a faux cowboy or cowgirl! They are both the candidates of closely alligned wings of their corporate sponsors. As to H Clinton, any so called "moderate" members of the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC)- Bill Clinton, Lieberman, Gore (sorry eco friends), etc., are what we use to call Republicans.

I am a lifelong democrat and will vote for the democratic nominee - hopefully Edwards, or Obama, or heaven help us - Hilary! Don't want that 5th vote on the Supreme Court, among other worse Republican disasters.

21. If "The Decider"
is the most admired man in America, it makes sense that HRC is the most admired woman.

As they say...."Birds of a Feather....."

22. Here's the womens numbers in that poll...
Sen. Clinton, hoping to be president-elect by the time of the next poll, was named by 18 percent as the most-admired woman, the 12th time she's been in the top spot. Talk show host Winfrey came in a close second with 16 percent. First lady Laura Bush and actress Angelina Jolie were each selected by 3 percent.

thats:
Clinton 18%
Winfrey 16%
Laura Bush 3%
Jolie 3%

In other words Hillary matches the COMBINED totals of her husband and Bush.

27. A key word to look for once HRC is the nominee-SYMBOLIC
When HRC wins the nomination too many republican strategists are girding up for the wrong fight. Republicans are acting and talking and putting out talking points that HRC is too polarizing and making folks believe it will be Leona Hemlsey, the notorious Queen of Mean they will be running against instead of Hillary Rodham Clinton......Folks believe me before this election is over, HRC's candidacy will have more in common with Amelia Earhart's first trans atlantic flight or Sally K Ride's first trip into space than Helmsley's heartlessness.....

Many in here that support obama and edwards have bought into the rights spin and believe HRC will be beat and also they believe if she wins the nomination she will be a loser. FOLKS, far from it because you and the right fail to grasp the crucial role that SYMBOLISM plays in politics. Once HRC is the nominee HRC's bid to be the FIRST EVER WOMAN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES and believe you me, IT IS A DAMN BIG DEAL, and it will ver shadow every other issue and image as the campaign goes forth.

It is so damn curious that so many in here that enjoy posting polls that show HRC's negatives OVERLOOK that fact that HRC's negatives are clustered mainly among republicans and republican leaning independents whoa re unlikely to vote for her in any circumstance. Over a two year( Aug 05 -Aug 07) period Gallup reported that among "pure independents" HRC had a 46% favorable rating and 43% unfavorable and 12% no opinion. Looking at this would believe it was too close to call but here is the kicker......but RIPE FOR SYMBOLIC EXPLOITATION.....
