Biden Deserves Better From the Media
Matt Bai, whose piece in the The New York Times Magazine must have driven the Clintons a bit batty, has a small tribute to Joe Biden in the Times online, presumably to be published in tomorrow's print edition. Why haven't the various state electorates which Biden has been courting given him the serious respect that he deserves? Yes, some people--many people--say he talks too much. In my view, his opponents talk in short-hand so that they can't be caught with fully developed ideas. Fully developed ideas are risky precisely because they are fully developed ideas. They are also likely to be more truthful.

Bai puts the responsibility on the television news people and, more specifically on the cable networks:

Ten years of endless blather about the game of politics on cable TV have trained the most engaged American voters to handicap candidates rather than hear them, to pontificate about who might win rather than deciding whom they actually want to win.

3. I couldn't agree more. Hell, he just deserves some MENTION and coverage
by the media. He can speak for himself - just give him the opportunity.

4. That couldn't be more accurate.
I'm convinced that the news media has no intention of allowing Biden in this race. They want an African American or a woman. Their priorities are not about what is best for our country. It's business. It's the same reason they shirked their responsibility during the run up to war. Bush was popular, FOX News's ratings were high and anyone questioning Bush or the war suffered consequences, e.g., Dan Rather or the Dixie Chicks. The jousting news programs wanted to increase their ratings at any cost. I also believe there were political motives involved, though I'm not convinced that is the case with the news medias' shunning of Joe Biden. America's news media has become disappointingly dangerous. Our only hope is that the American people overcome the obstacle of our negligent and tampering news media and support Sen. Biden to the point where the news media can no longer ignore him. Then they'll find other ways to try to stop him. Hopefully, the American people will overcome that as well. That's why we need someone strong like Joe Biden as our president at this point in time. He may end up being the only source we have delivering the truth.
