Hillary Backer Bayh: Assassination Reminds Us That If We Don't Pick Hillary...blah blah blah...
Hillary Backer Bayh: Assassination Reminds Us That If We Don't Pick Hillary, GOP Could Paint Dems As Weak
By Greg Sargent - December 27, 2007, 4:14PM

Looks like Obama adviser David Axelrod isn't the only key player talking about the effect the Bhutto assassination will have on the Dem primary.

Here's Hillary supporter Evan Bayh, saying that the killing is a reminder that the Republicans will use such occasions to paint Dems as weak, which is why we need to nominate Hillary:

“When there are unfortunate calamities like this, the Republicans , ‘See. See what we told you? We have to have someone who’s strong to defend America at a time of concern.’ Well, Senator Clinton is strong,” he said. “And she’s experienced. And she’s tough enough to defend this country and do it in a way that’s true to our values, the civil liberties we cherish, and that’s one of the reasons why I’m supporting her.”...

“The job of the next president is not to be entertainer in chief. The job of the next president is to move our country forward to make the substantive changes that will matter in our daily lives, and to protect us in an uncertain and dangerous world. And that’s why in a field of very good candidates, I believe Senator Clinton has the right combination of experience and strength to accomplish all of those things.”

3. There's a difference between praising a candidate, vs. ATTACKING ONE
Axelrod wasn't "Talking about how it was going to effect" the primary......He was basically telling the world why Hillary Clinton would destroy America. GEt your facts straight.

9. You call that an attack? Let me set you straight.
Bringing up somebody's self-admitted teenage drug use is an attack.

Calling somebody on the fact that they backed a disasterous war that's helped destabilize a nuclear weapons state is about POLICY.

28. BINGO!
Apparently, the Hillary Herd thinks their own shit doesn't stink. When they attack it is not an attack. ANyone who points it out is a Hillary Hater or worse.

But they can attack with impunity. And of course, they try to contend that they do not do negative campaigning.

Their down-is-up up-is-down doublespeak reminds me of arguements I have had with the right wingnuts during the buildup to the Iraq War. Except then they were republicans for the most part....

27. In your dreams! So you didn't notice Bayh was attacking Obama? REALLY?
Edited on Thu Dec-27-07 07:43 PM by earthlover
The entire bit was capitalizing on the assassination to knock Obama's supposed lack of experience, he even made a quip about "entertainer in chief". That is so childish! Mr Bayh went down a few notches with that one for sure in my view. That is the sort of rot I would expect from a high school internet chat room, but from a responsible adult? HUH?

This is so much part of the recent style of the HIllary Bash Campaign. The use of surrogates to suggest that Obama does not have the experience to be president.

6. Key difference: Team Restoration eagerly uses this event as a selling point
and Axelrod only spoke after being bird-dogged by reporters about why Bhutto's death wasn't a win for Hillary.

Voters will have six days to figure out the difference; it won't take that long.

8. This is one of those times when remarks by the principals is required...
Bayh(Repugnant light)is out of place since he is not a principal.

Whether his statement is good or bad, it is in bad taste and dilutes the message from the candidates themselves.
