Benazir Bhutto's Death Means NOTHING to my Fundie Clueless Neighbors

So...all this Candidate Pontificating doesn't outweigh the fact that most Americans are worried about their own Financial Health...and trying to put out crap that Pakistan has nukes targeted to America just isn't going to wash...It's Ridiculous...according to my "churchgoing" Christmas enthralled fellow North Carolinians. They are much more interested in SPORTS and the UPCOMING HOCKEY SEASON!

So...this great Fru Frah with the Think Tanks saying this "changes the Election" because the "Focus is back on WAR" is going to fall on deaf ears, IMHO...

How do you think this will PLAY for the Election...in YOUR STATE?

1. Pakistan doesn't have nukes targeted at us
They don't have a delivery system for that range.

15. Paki nukes become dangerous only when Al Qaeda gets hold of them
Then they will be smuggled across the Rio Grande and detonated as a dirty bomb.
But until Al Qaeda gets them we have nothing to worry about.

20. I am more worried about
how to fight radiation from a dirty nuke than using a shortform of a word..
I hope Mex is not also a slur since I use it often.

2. depends
how bad things get in Pakistan. The event itself won't have a big influence, but the aftermath may have a profound effect.

That's what I want to know and isn't Pakistan the BUSHCO's BIGGEST SUPPORTER as other Countries throw off their Radical Right Wing Leaders in OPPOSITION TO BUSH FASCIST POLICTICS?

3. Most of what we discuss heatedly on DU is of no consequence to the general public
This recent tragedy may affect the early primary states in a small way, though I don't see it tipping the balances in favor of one candidate or another.

In my state, it won't even register on the meter.

10. I'm thinking that Average Americans are FINALLY FOCUSING ON HOME!
and that's a good thing. It goes back to our break from the British Empire Asperations....

Anyway..that's what I think...But...I'm a little bit of an "ISOLATIONIST" until we get our "own house in order" before we do MORE EMPIRE BUILDING!

It's just me...but I think there are many folks out there who think like me.

17. You might be right about that.
I'm very worried that the MSM and the GOP and going to work the national security angle again, but it could be that the only reason it was so effective in 2004 is that the 9/11 attacks were fairly recent. Thus, it was a domestic issue to a lot of people. But now it looks like the economy, health care, and immigration are the big things.

4. I agree with your fundie neighbors
in that this will quickly fade. It is not a domestic issue. If anything this event needs to reinforce the need to get out of Iraq now.

13. I know...but then WHO are Blitzer and Matthews trying to CONVICE?
As they blather on that "WAR is BACK ON THE TABLE" for our Dem/Repup Candidates...Is it the RW Think Tanks with a "wire in their ear" who are paying them ...cautioning them to TALK ABOUT THIS? A way to interfere with our US Elections before they get the Hackers In...to switch the VOTES on the DIEBOLD and other Affiliates Voting Machines that Dodd and others in the SENATE MANDATED after Bush vs. Gore...SEVEN LONG YEARS AGO?

5. Well, Faux has gone from calling her an impediment to our buddy Musharef to a "champion of democracy
in Southwest Asia" all in the space of a week....no wonder your fundie clueless neighbor is confused!

They've moved the goalpost, and he doesn't know where to look!!

I'm from MA--we don't scare so easily. However, this tragedy could resonate, once people wrap their heads around it.

I think it's too remote of an issue for mainstream voters in America to care.

as the new "Transplants" flood in to NC from Canada and Northeast and MidWest States.. THE SOUTH now has a WINNING HOCKEY TEAM..."THE CAINES!"

Don't think that the Southeast US is what it used to be! It's changed.......
