Axelrod slams Edwards for being too angry, He wants to "Storm the Bastille"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/27/AR2007122701936.html

"The Edwards campaign is 'Storm the Bastille,' " said Axelrod in a colorful description of the former senator's fierce attacks on drug companies, oil companies and all others who would stand in the way of reform. This is appealing to the many Democrats who are in a fighting mood.

But Obama is running as the candidate who can transcend these fights. In offering his closing argument at a Masonic hall here yesterday, he poked fun at Clinton's recent embrace of change as her own magic word. No, said Obama, change "has been our message when we were down, and our message when we were up. And it must be catching on because . . . everyone is talking about change."

Clearly but obliquely referring to Edwards, Obama preached that anger won't cut it, either. "There's no shortage of anger and bluster and bitter partisanship out there," he said. "We can change the electoral math that's been all about division and make it about addition."

Sometimes Bastilles need storming, and he seems by far the most inclined to take on the corporations. Obama's a good guy but he wants to make nice with everybody, and Hillary seems pretty happy with her corporate donors.

to me the moderates and the republicans don't want Edwards causing problems for the status quo.

11. Offhand, I'd say that Axelrod has one hell of a big mouth and also has a ...
matching ego to go along with it. Too much mouth and too much ego for a mere functionary.

He claims that Hillary stole the 'change' concept from Obama. Gleefully, I'd like to point out that the owner of 'change' in this campaign belongs to Dennis.

As a Hillary supporter, I still like to see the flacks stay honest.

Sadly for them the tactic is as obvious as a flaming Buick speeding down the highway. They've been trying to get Obama and Edwards supporters fighting for awhile now.

Good for John Edwards.

Axelrod isn't interesting to me one way or the other. But Edwards' anger is not a sole trait of one man. Many people are in despair over their plight under the Bush administration, and no relief is in sight unless there is a dramatic change in the Whtie House personnel, beginning with the top two spots.

Edwards' team has prepared extremely thoroughly for this campaign. They're awfully thorough on the issues, drawing praise from Mario Cuomo and many others. If Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, and the other rodents who comprise the Bush adminsitration represent the Bastille, it's damned time it was stormed.

I'll say it just one more time on this Thursday evening: Good for John Edwards.

23. the people are angry
The people are angry, and with good cause. Anger is not a tactic or a style, it is a genuine human emotion, a sane reaction to the insane conditions we are living under.

The anger of the people will express itself one way or another. Immigrants are being scape-goated and targeted, for just one example. Even here among those who should be allies, the anger and hostility directed at one another is almost overwhelming in its ferocity.

The solution is not to put on a happy face and mouth soothing words of reconciliation. The justifiable anger people feel must be given focus and direction so that positive things can result from it, rather than more rancor and hatred. The cause of people's anger must be acknowledged and eliminated.

You can't tell people to not be angry about what is happening. The people will stop being angry when they are no longer being abused. The goal should not be to feel good about things, it should be to build something we can feel good about.
