People are starting to get on edge because Iowa caucuses? |
|
Wow, I just looked at a bunch of locked threads, they were something else. I was away for Christmas holiday and I also see many ridiculous flame bait threads here. On all sides, no matter the candidate. LOL People seem to be getting edgy and nervous the closer it gets to the first contest in Iowa. Why do I get the feeling the closer to Iowa, the more outrageous the threads will get. Wowsers!

I'm not trying to be difficult, but I am thankful for the Iowa caucus and for the one-state-at-a-time approach. I wish you would reconsider your opinion because the only thing heavily front-loaded primaries do is give significant advantage to the candidate(s) with the most money.
And what do they do with all of that lobbyist and special-interest money? They spend it on meaningless, soundbyte-driven ads.
I'm certainly not saying that Iowa should always be first, and then NH, SC, NV. Maybe we could have the states on a rotating basis?
The Iowa caucus and those single-state elections, force candidates to meet voters. This process demands that candidates answer questions. It's practically the only time in this process that "We The People" are calling the shots and in control.
I hope our country never stops doing this front-end primary process with one-state-at-a-time holding elections. It's one shred of democracy that we have left!

14. There's another benefit to a caucus: |
|
You can't throw away your vote on a candidate who isn't viable. The process of switching to a viable candidate can make all the difference in a caucus.

16. That's a good point... |

If you choose to be counted, you must switch to a candidate who has at least 15 percent of the total votes.
However, you can opt to walk away and support no one (and not be counted) if you feel that you must stick with your candidate.
This happened to me in 04. I walked into our caucus room. One hundred people and only two were for Dean--my husband and I.
I was in complete and total shock. I thought Dean had it in the bag.
My husband went to the Kerry camp and I sat a table (our caucus was in a high-school library, refusing to join another candidate group.
We didn't know it, but a reporter had been listening to and watching my husband and I during this entire process. She wrote an article on us, and she quoted me saying, "You're sleeping on the couch tonight, buddy!" as he walked away to the Kerry camp.
Of course, I was kidding.
I told my husband tonight, that I'm bracing for anything this time around. You just never know...

The reason people view Hillary and RW'ers so similarly is because they've acted so similarly on many issues...like the war.
Oh, yeah, that's another nice thing about caucuses--nobody's automatically the winner, just because the media gives them a lot of hype. This caucus is coming down to the wire!

Works like a charm.
I'm the McGuyver of getting rid of waxy, yellow buildup.

I'm caucusing in a high school library, so I plan to bring my Pledge Duster and my Swiffer Sweeper.

Should be room enough. I'll just bet the weather sucks though. It has sucked every other day for 5 weeks or more.

20. In my case, I'm not getting edgier. I'm getting angrier by the day. |
|
I'm sick and tired of reading, in a so called Democratic board, so much hatred for Hillary. I'm at the point that if she doesn't win the nomination, I'm staying home next November. The party won't see a nickel of my money nor will I waste my valuable time campaigning for someone else.
