Why worry about elections when the Repubs are going to steal it again? |
|
Edited on Sat Dec-29-07 08:46 PM by DutchLiberal
This question entered my mind today, after reading all the bickering about the primaries. I'm sure that, if elections actually take place (I still fear Bush will pull a fake terror attack and declare martial law and suspend elections!), the Republicans will steal them once again. They did it in 2000. They did it in 2004. They will do it again in 2008. What's the use of selecting the 'perfect' candidate when victory is stolen once again? What is being done to prevent it? Which candidates have even addressed this issue?
Edit because people misunderstood my post: I'm NOT proposing staying home and not voting. I am asking you what can be done/will be done/is being done as we speak to prevent another theft of the elections. And if nothing is done: then what?

5. First of all: I'm not allowed to vote. Second: you're putting words in my mouth. |
|
Thirdly: you did not get the point of the OP.

10. You clearly said "why worry about elections?" It's hard to misinterpret that. |
|
But, I guess I managed to do it somehow!
If you meant elections should not even be held, then that's as misguided as not voting.
Why bother with your post, since elections are going to happen regardless?
Why can't you vote? Too young?

go vote and make them steal my vote damn it!
They want you to stay home... the more voters at the polls the merrier, since it makes it harder to steal them

8. I've noticed all the "concern" you express in your posts. |
|
And you so conveeeniently forgot 2006. Odds are very strong that even if they try, they won't succeed. The repuke party is bleeding registered voters. The party itself is in real danger of splitting. And the dem party is lawyering up. But again, thanks so much for your concern.

9. What are you suggesting with your sarcasm? |
|
What are you accusing me of? What kind of hidden agenda do you think I have? What is wrong with DU when a guy can't make a perfectly normal post without paranoid people swarming around it trying to blacken the messenger? Either say what you think or don't say anything at all. But don't be a coward and put words in like "conveniently forgotten".

18. How are they "lawyering up"? I haven't seen any info on this and would like to know. |
|
This isn't a smart ass remark. I'm just remembering 2004 and how we supposedly had lawyers ready, willing, and able.
