Clinton campaign argues with results of new Iowa Poll
Unhappy with the news that Democrat Hillary Clinton didn’t top The Des Moines Register’s Iowa Poll, her aides this morning say it includes more independent voters than would be expected to participate in the caucuses.

The camapaign is talking up two other new polls that show Clinton leading in Iowa.

Clinton staffers had eagerly awaited today’s poll because they expected the big headline to say their candidate is in the lead.

Instead, Clinton’s pollster Mark Penn said this morning: “We do not see this poll as accurately reflecting the trends we are seeing in other polls, on our nightly canvasses or in our own polls, and voters should understand this is a very close race, and that their participation on caucus night could make all of the difference.”

2. he is right in thinking that the polls matter, even if inaccurate
unfortunatly some people like to jump on bandwagons. For me, it would make me work harder for my candidate.

He is also saying the same thing the pundits were saying earlier on cable.

5. The Clinton campaign is really making a big deal out of this...lol
If they're so secure about their position, then why do they care so much about ONE poll? Makes you wonder huh?

6. why should hillary care if independents are in the poll? according to the
narrative, they are just waiting to cross over and vote for her. all that reaching across the aisle garbage.

I heard from a Washington Journal caller this morning that CNN was peddling Hillary was in the lead in Iowa.

bye-bye, billary.

the primaries should be about the party loyal. Will the independents stay with us if the guy/gal they voted for in the primaries doesn't make it to the general?

11. But a black man can't win Republican votes
Or the white male vote. That's why we can't elect him. Right?

Normally I agree with you, I don't like open primaries. But this particular instance is hysterical because the strong support of Indies and Repubs prove that one of the key arguments against Obama is just downright false. And if Hillay had such broad support, her team would be crowing about that instead of complaining.

12. I don't know how that connects
to having indy's vote in our primaries. I never doubted that Obama could win as the nominee.

15. It's a joke...some of them are better than others
Prior to the DMR endorsement he left follow-up voicemails with the editors. Get it? Ha ha. Not.

Happy new year to one of Hillary's classiest supporters, btw. :hi:

19. I support Obama...but it seems to me the poll is tough for Hillary...
rightly or wrongly, she can't win on this. The headline charges up the Obama people, and complaining about methodology looks bad. I do understand though, they don't want turnout suppressed by any poll...rock and a hard place.
