That guy makes my skin crawl...I absolutely cannot stand that guy, refuse to even watch him on TV...He's such a smug, arrogant, pompous, condasending, mean-spirited SOB....Please, please let this bastard not get the Republican nomination!...:banghead:

I honestly don't think I could live in the US anymore if Romney became president....

Syndey (AU) anyone?......

See, don't you feel better?

10. Yes, but most of those people esp. Robertson, Keyes,
probably couldn't get 50 electoral votes....

I'll answer my original question...Sam Brownback was worse than Romney, but Brownback had ZERO chance of ever winning...

Romney stands at least a reasonable (cetainly better than those aforementioned candiates) shot of winning, thus making him so dangerous.....

14. He's got a shot, especially if he wins Iowa and gets a big enough
bounce going in to NH to overtake McCain. BUT--even if he wins the nom, I can't see him winning the general. I honestly can't imagine any of the R's winning. I have tried to envision it, and it just seems so far-fetched. Of course, I said that in 2000 and 2004, but I feel it in my bones this time.

fascist than Brownback.

Forbes at least had some respect for personal liberty.

24. Romney talks smack to look like a rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth far right wing nut--
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 05:16 PM by wienerdoggie
if HE believed anything that came out of his mouth, maybe we would too. But he doesn't, so we don't. It's all posturing to get the nomination. Posturing doesn't scare me--I expect it from Repubs. Huckabee, however, truly has a personality disorder. He will say or do anything to get media attention--in fact, I think he's more interested in being on TV and having people laugh at his jokes and take pictures of him playing guitar and hunting than in actually being President. Mittens makes me roll my eyes and sigh, but at least he takes things seriously, as a CEO-type tends to do. Huckabee makes my skin crawl--he's totally unserious and makes up his half-baked positions as he goes along, and I have no idea why he thinks he can or should be President--but he's loving the whole circus aspect a little too much, and that should set off alarms as to his motives and his personality.

25. Romney takes pride in never pardoning anyone, trying to bring back the
death penalty, and has consistently supported Bush's authoritarian measures. He is consistent on the most disturbing issues.

28. OK, yes. Not a swell guy. But did he PERSONALLY interfere in the
parole process to set a future-murderer free because the guy raped Clinton's cousin? And if I had to choose between Romney's zero pardons and Huckleberry's 1000-plus, including 12 murderers...sorry, gonna have to choose Romney, just on the public-safety merits. They're both icky, but there are varying degrees of ickiness--your ick factor and mine are obviously not calibrated the same way.

29. Romney's trait is far more disturbing.
He is completely unwilling to even entertain the idea that injustice exists in the criminal justice system. Is Huckabee a little pardon-happy? Yes, but it demonstrates at least some measure of compassion even if it is misguided by the idea "THEY FOUND GOD! THEY MUST BE GOOD NOW!".

27. Yup
He was my governor, and couldn't agree with you more. He's even worse than you've said. In 2006, his last year as Gov, he was in the state, actually doing work as governor, for i think just over 1/3 of the year, cause he spent the rest of his time, in Iowa, bashing Mass. to try and make him look more attractive in the conservative circles. He's despicable fraud of a human being, not just candidate.
