he's done for? Is Buchanan secretly pushing for a Hillary nomination?

1. I think he's referring to Michelle Obama's
quote in Vanity Fair about "it's now or never" or "if we don't win Iowa, it's over" or something like that.

10. Michelle Obama didn't say "If we don't win Iowa, it's over".

26. I believe I indicated
the "quotes" I was offering were the general idea of what she said. That's what the "or something like that" meant.

2. Yes
but not secretly. He's stated he in fact wants Hillary to be the opponent.

Because his record is really good on strong women.

7. And using the condescending "honey"
shows that you're really good on strong women too. :eyes:

18. Maybe I'm just being stupid here, but...
I had had the vague impression that aquart was a she. Maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway, what's wrong with "honey" as a familiarity? (Disclaimer: I like to address women under 20 as "Ma'am," and those over 30 as "Miss." It's fun.)

19. honey, baby, sweetie-pie, darling...
Often come off as condescending. The gender of the person saying is irrelevant, imho.

4. well, his comment does have some validity
Hillary leads in about 95% of the other caucuses and primaries after Iowa.

He could ride an Iowa victory all the way to the nomination.

But if he loses Iowa, it will be very tough to make up that ground the rest of the way.

6. Seems like saying that would be to motivate Obama supporters to get out and caucus.
But who knows what his thinking really is...

11. Same Reason MSM (TV) and Cable News Channels have
chosen to pretend Edwards is not in the race.

All I think Buchanan is saying: So much has been pushed
to help Obama win Iowa, that if he loses, he has lost
his chances in other states. Buchanan would say even
with money to go on, he will not win. He is not saying
Obama should stop--he is stating the realities of how
elections work.

Many others CNN and Fox have made similar comments.

12. Its only somewhat true if Hillary wins.
An Edwards win would keep Obama in the race. But if Hillary comes out with the momentum and a reinforced sense of inevitability, it will be very hard to beat her.

13. I think he's just got and idea and he's on a show so he repeats his idea. I think he's 99% right, by
the way.

Obama doesn't need to win, but he needs to beat Hillary. If Hillary comes 3rd, I don't think it matters to Obama too much whether he comes 1st or 2nd, but if he finishes behind Hillary, that would be fatal.

its so obvious. whenever they had him on after a debate, no matter how she did, he praised her, even going as far as saying if she didnt totally fail, she won.
