So which Republican result would you like to see tonight?
I know today is all about brother fighting brother and what not, but spinning it forward to the real race, which Republican candidate's victory tonight would be the best result for Dems? (other than Paul, obviously)

I say it's Huckabee. A win by that freak would 1) officially end Thompson's bid, 2) cripple Romney to the point of embarrassment, and 3) set up a Huck-Guliani-McCain three horse race that will be nothing but smiles-times for Dems.

3. I was really hoping for old man thompson
but that was for perverse reasons cause he'd be a lightweight in the GE

otherwise, I'd hazard Romney.
I don't think Guiliani fools anyone, so I see him last except for Thompson

4. Romney...
A Huckabee win actually helps McCain who I think will be the toughest opponent...

A Romney win would boost him in New Hampshire and dampen the McCain surge

25. I agree with the first part, but I've got my doubts that either one is more
sane than the other.

Go Obama! :toast:

I'd like to see him get the nom for the GE. Easily, handily destroyed.

7. Huckabee also brings up some points
His flat tax idea would actually benefit some and abolishing the Internal Revenue service would mean that my payroll taxes would not go to fund this war.

I can see some advantage to this guy winning. He wins and we stop buying everything except through black market and avoid taxes. We home school the kids and privately fund our roads. We buy lots of guns and guard our black market illegal abortion clinics.

Hey, look up guys! A Huckabee win could be a good thing!

:sarcasm:

8. A weak win by anyone but Romney, and a vote for "None of the Above" coming in a super strong second,
with the rest of the field equally split--all of them getting a halfassed ten percent or so, so that none of them want to give it up. Make them spend, spend, spend and attack each other for another month or so!

10. Romney.....
If Huckabee wins it dampens Romney's buzz and sets McCain up for New Hampshire. McCain is the toughest republican to beat. If Romney wins he gets momentum going into NH and stands better poised to win the nomination and then get trounced by any Dem in November.

11. I want Romney to lose
Romney is the candidate of the vast right wing conspiracy. He's pure evil and he'll have the vast right wing conspiracy machinery behind him so he'll be tough to run against.

I like Huckabee for the laughs. His name even sounds like a word for prolonged laughter.

If no front runner ever emerges, they'll have a vicious battle all the way to the convention and destroy each other. That would be fun to watch too.

16. See? That's what I love about him.
He's basically a dream candidate for Democratic mockery. Even his name is funny. And Arkansas? Who-boy...if they called Clinton "Bubba", what's Huck's nickname?

I can say this because the entire Pub field is filled with clowns and asshats.

17. If Huckabee beats Romney it severely hurts Romney.
That's a good thing. On the other hand, I think Huckabee would cause us problems in the GE. I'd like to mess up the puke race, so Huckabee winning would do that. So would McCain, but I don't think he can pull it off.

21. I view everything from this perspective: 2 of our 3 top candidates might not beat McCain so I DON'T
want McCain to win.

To stop McCain from winning, I think

(1) it is good that Thompson's campaign remail alive. Thompson isn't going to win, but Thompson supported McCain in the Bush-McCain fight back in 2000, so I'm supposing that when Thompson finally collapses, most of his support goes to McCain, and

(2) Romney needs to stop McCain in New Hampshire, and to boost Romney's chances in New Hampshire, we need for him to win Iowa. All three of our top candidates beat Romney, who isn't nearly as strong a GE candidate as McCain.

In light of that, I would like to see Romney 1st, Huckabee 2nd, Paul or Thompson 3rd and 4th, McCain 5th.

I suspect that it will be Romney, Huckabee, a big gap, McCain, then Paul or Thompson.

22. That's exactly the order I think it will go
Romney, Huckabee, .....................Guliani, McCain, others.

Maybe that's good, maybe that's bad. But I agree, McCain needs no momentum going into NH.

I do not feel Romney will be that difficult a candidate. He's acceptable because he's (now) accepted all of the republican positions. But no one is excited about his candidacy, are you kidding me? No one will be motivated to vote for Romney. Their get out the vote effort will be abysmal in November if Romney is the nominee. He does not come across as genuine to most people imo.
