31. Certainly!
Just put your mouse over the image and click your right click and select property. Then Copy the URL, and paste it where you want it or save it in your favorite for later use. :hi:

He and Edwards are both excellent. I'd be delighted if either of them got the nomination.

26. Me three. He was channeling MLK tonight, and on purpose.
I think criticizing him for being vague and using platitudes and not being specific about policy in a speech like this is kind of pointless. It's designed to inspire, not to put forth policy. There are other times more appropriate for that. And if the rest is too "vague" to affect you, oh well.

The point is, there are times a politician wants to deliver a platform and others when one simply wants to move people emotionally. A smart politician will know when to do one, when to do the other, and when to do both, and will not do just one or the other.

If you're not one of the people this speech connected with, OK. But you may find yourself in the minority.

14. I disagree with you....
Obama is NOT saying anything that Edwards has not already said, and in some cases, a lot better. All I need to hear is the reference to Ronnie Raygun's bridge.....

I am sorry - Obama has made a lot better speeches and he is smart enough to take his own ideas and come up with his own slogans....I still carry his speech at the convention in my daytimer so I know he is capable of much better. Hope he says? Edwards was saying that 4 years ago....find something new Obama. You got my vote if Edwards leaves the race, but you need a new speech writer.

I guess I am in the minority tonight, but his speech is not orignal by far. I'ver heard it all before said by someone else.

16. I pretty much agree
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 11:30 PM by midlife_mo_Jo
I just don't find him to be a great orator. The excitement in the room was electrifying, and that carried a well crafted speech, but it just wasn't "awe" inspiring, imo.

(Note: I very much like Obama, and is my "strong" second choice.)

28. The point is not to win a prize for originality.
The point is to get elected.

Just saying.

You won't find much originality in most campaign speeches.

34. I wasn't blown away by it either
too preachy for my tastes. Obama does nothing for me. Don't know why. Some politicans do and some don't. Can't really explain it. Kudos to Obama for winning Iowa and for bringing out the youth vote.
