Hillary's dynastic appeal - - "(I)t took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush..."
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 10:05 AM by jefferson_dem
From this morning's speech -

"I think it’s interesting that it took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush, and I think it may take another one to clean up after the second Bush," she said.

Is this part of her message of "change"? Bring it on.

3. Of course Bill also insured that the communications act of the 90's

NAFTA, and other things started by the republicans became a reality

Personally, I think using Bill Clinton in this way will hurt her campaign, both from the Democratic left, and those who swallowed the media campaign against bill clinton during his 8 years

I think it is better for her to stand on her own. Bill Clinton brings a lot of mixed emotions which can go either way pro or con, and the fact remains, HE isn't running for president

6. She's flailing her arms desperately looking for something with traction
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 10:46 AM by Azathoth
Her "message" is nothing but a pastiche of contradictory themes appropriated from other candidates and the latest polls.

"I've got tons of experience as a Washington insider...but I'm an outsider that will be an agent of change...who will change things back to the way they were...so we can move in a brand new direction...the same direction we went in after the last Bush left office...and I'm the best candidate to woo middle-aged women...because I represent younger voters...and I want to move away from the politics of fear...which is important, because there are Muslim terrorists everywhere who are gonna bomb you if you don't vote for me...'cause I have 35 years of experience in Washington, which means I'm an outside agent of change...oh, and I don't like those corporations either..." :eyes:

11. That doesn't mean there should be a second Clinton
It means there never should have been a second Bush.

Or, as one of the Iowa caucus participants on C-Span said last night (when discussing a resolution on Presidential pardons)

"If Ford hadn't pardoned Nixon, we would have never been stuck with Bush."
