Hillary, Edwards and change... |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 01:26 PM by Sulawesi
There is a more subtle problem with Hillary (and to a lesser degree Edwards) running on a change mantra. Aside from the fact that she is essentially an incumbent, and that is a touch sell from the start, the problem is that Obama staked this ground effectively, and did it first. For the others to get on the change bandwagon at this point simply instantiates Obama's leadership position on this issue. Every time Hillary campaigns on the change platform, she is elevating Obama's leadership.
It seems to me she should live or die on the 1990s nostalgia, and a practical sense that we've been there and know how to fix these things, and do it in about 3 days. I don't think that will work, so she will have to go negative, but quick.

1. The core of Edwards' campaign is changing American govt from valuing Corporations over the People |

Every speech of his I have seen is about changing the favoritism and power Repub admins have given to Corporations. That under his presidency, the focus is valuing the rights of the middle class/working people over the rich and powerful conglomerates. Stripping the corporations of their power.
So I don't think he has much of a problem w the Change Mantra as you suggest.
His main problem will be getting as much media coverage as the others.
