especially rehashing 2004.

It's a shame the media is ignoring him like that though. :hi:

Why bring any progressive down, even if they are AS progressive as we like? They're still far better than any Republican...or Joe Lieberman.

7. I'd love to praise John Edwards, but it would make Brit Hume soooooo mad.
And not only Brit Hume, but almost anyone at all in the mainstream media.

Coverage quotient per hours on the air appear to have been calculated against 6 Democrats and since Edwards' positions tend strongly toward the anti-corporate position, I'm wonder -- just wondering, mind you -- if there might be a connection.

8. Hey OC!
I'm not wondering anymore, especially after last night. There was practically no mention of him in last night's debate - where many are proclaiming that he owned the room. Mr. WFH said "why don't they just put one of those black bars over his face every time they have to show a picture when all of them are in the room..." Thank the Good Lord for You Tube!

10. Hey there, waiting for hope. We're in the thick of it now -- only 2 days
until the New Hampshire Democrats have a crack at it.

The image of coverage of Edwards with the black bar is outrageous and sadly points to how the media censor his voice. It's clear they want a 2-person race between two candidates -- like the famous duel gunfight in the streets on GUNSMOKE.

Agree with you -- the web has really put a lot more people into news access than ever before.

12. Amen to the Internets!
I hope it will give Edwards the attention - I do know that I am able to discuss Edwards positions better after being on the internets, for there are still many that rely on the spoon fed corporate owned media. I was able to dispel a few mis-conceptions lately, and maybe even won some support!

18. Yes. It would be great if a higher percentage of primary voters were
as informed as possible. And the web can be a great resource, and it's "open" 24/7.

Gore Vidal once said that half of all Americans don't read. Half don't vote. Vidal said ,"One hopes it is the same half."

15. Time for a letter writing campaign
at least to the newspapers about their marginalizing Edwards. I don't know their policy on political letters but if you just mention the lack of coverage without necessarily asking for people to vote for him, they just may get published. Does anyone know the tyical policy about these matters?

16. I think letters help -- of the sort you describe. Often editorial boards
are stodgy and stubborn but some are open to a well-written question about their coverage.

The electronic media feel like a whole nuther fish. I think they feel they're in a position to ignore just about everyone except maybe their corporate sponsors.

23. email I just sent to some of the lamestream media about Edwards
I and many of my friends feel that you are deliberately excluding
mention of the strength and worth of John Edwards as a Presidential
candidate - in order to assure continued corporate control of the White
House and over control over the national conversation before the 2008
elections.

Mr. Edwards represents the hopes and feelings of more people than you
choose to acknowledge, and we would very much appreciate it if you
would cover his message and successes with at least the same zeal as
you display toward Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama.

In case you were not aware, it was John Edwards, not Hillary Clinton,
who came in second in the first Presidential Primary/Caucus in Iowa. Yet, the
mainstream media consistently only spoke of Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama
as if Mr. Edwards was never even present at those caususes. This is
MOST troubling and puzzling. And when you do give Mr. Edwards any
coverage, it seems consistently negative.

We are not convinced by your refusal to accord him fair exposure that
his chances of becoming the nominee are less than those of the other
candidates. In fact your deliberate ignorance of him tells us the
opposite - that you fear the support Mr. Edwards might get if he had
wider positive exposure and you are endeavoring to avoid that - lest
he become the nominee. In fact, we feel that if you and the other
major networks simply provide him the same coverage you've lavished on
his rivals, Americans would rush to support him.

Mr. Obama's vacuous (though dreamy) platitudes and Mrs. Clinton's car
sales routine are nothing if not familiar. They serve only to alienate
and mislead citizens whose real lives, issues, and purchasing power -
and in fact whose entire nation - depends upon honest, compassionate
leadership that is not beholden to corporate influence.

Please do not abandon this country and do a disservice to its voters
and your viewers for the bland, disheartening,
corporate-money-sponsored status-quo future promised by the most
moneyed candidates, simply because the corporations who own your
networks fear the change he may bring about.

We all know who owns the media. We all know whose influence John
Edwards is vowing to fight should he become the nominee. We can do the
math. Your deliberate avoidance of Mr. Edwards as a viable candidate
tells us that he is right and righteous in his cause.

The American people deserve to know of and see him
and to hear of him as much as the other candidates, so they can make
an INFORMED rather than a misinformed decision about the best person
to lead this country (no matter who is best to protect corporate
bottom-lines - because those are likely two very different things).

Thank you.
