--by their blackballing of candidates. We almost don't have to read their platforms or know anything else about them. We can know how much they threaten the Corporate Rulers by how much they are abused--excluded, blackballed, 'swift-boated,' or mis-reported. Kucinich. Edwards.
I think they've only lately concluded that Edwards is a threat, and I think that's because Edwards has actually changed. He reminds me somewhat of Bobby Kennedy in this regard--who underwent a real change of heart, with regard to both anti-communist wars and civil rights and poverty issues. The key moment for Edwards may have been the theft of the 2004 election, and the failure of the Democratic Party to contest that obviously stolen election. (For Bobby, it might have been his brother's assassination, possibly combined with the horrors of the Vietnam War, and M.L. King's influence as well.) In any case, Edwards has been tagged as a threat to the powers-that-be, who, on the other hand, don't seem threatened at all by Barack O'Bama's soft rhetoric of "hope." It's kind of like my rule on thumb on Bushites. Whatever they assert, assume that the opposite is true, and you can't go far wrong. Whoever the war profiteering corporate news monopolies promote, beware of that candidate; and whoever they blackball, we very likely should support.
BUT, we should be aware that NO CANDIDATE who is sincere in his/her intention to reform this government (which necessarily means busting Corporate/War Profiteer power) will be permitted to win the White House. Back in the day, they just shot them. Today, they have total control of election outcomes, with private electronic voting systems, run on 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled by rightwing Bushite corporations--fast-tracked all over the country during the 2002 to 2004 period. I think it is possible for the people to outvote the machines (they did, in some cases, in 2006), but then some other means will be used to prevent a reformer in the White House. We need to face this reality. ONLY sell-outs will be permitted to gain that power. What we can do, though, is influence the private debates in corporate boardrooms and secret meetings (like the Bilderberg Group) on how far to go in robbing the American people and pushing us toward outright revolt. That's the best we can do, I think, until we restore transparent vote counting--an on-going fight by many citizen groups in state/local jurisdictions. Which means, pick your anti-corporate candidate, and go for it. Donate. Volunteer. Blog. Whatever you can do. Never give up on your right to vote!

Optical scan, precinct based. Not as riggable as touchscreen systems, but still easily riggable. NH voters and campaign workers need to be all over this primary, with efforts to verify the vote. I believe that "precinct-based" may mean votes get posted at the precinct level (which is good), but I'm not sure. Trying to find out.
We will NOT have verifiable elections in the primaries and in the general election in 2008. These highly riggable electronic systems just got entrenched too fast, and are very hard to dislodge. We will do it eventually. Meanwhile, fight for what's right and true and open and aboveboard. We WILL get our country back eventually. Think long term. Think beyond the next election. Fight for the best candidates and ideas, and for TRANSPARENT vote counting.
