Is the Media Setting Obama up to Fail? |
|
Unintentionally or intentionally. If Obama wins big in NH, you may start hearing that dreaded "I" word that really ended up hurting the Clinton Campaign--Inevitability. Now I think even if Obama wins in NH, its still a strong race with Clinton in those big states. But what I worry is that they are going to build up Obama to a point where any small thing that happens will be made into a much bigger deal. And there is 11 days in between NH and NV and another week between that and SC, so there is a lot of time for stuff to happen. It will be interesting to see what happens.

The key is when he will fail....The republicans want him in the general. Just look at the resume' of most of the repugs. Heck, Obama is very weak on successful, political experience compared to Hillary and even Edwards. Edwards has completed a 6 year term in the Senate and completed a VP Presidential Campaign.
Yes, he is the weakest lin k and they are selling him to us.

Well if being married to a politician counts as experience, I guess losing a campaign qualifies as experience too.

7. Actually it probably is very good experience. But as to your OP |
|
I think they will certainly try. They have been creating the story all along.
Now if I just knew who "they" actually are, I might know what the real agenda was.

but Hilary is the easiest. They've been gearing up to face her for 10+ years. She would never beat any of the Republican candidates

8. It's too late for that, the genie's out of the bottle |

The American people, by and large, are finished with the status quo.
We are sick of our politicians making all our problems worse, and then claiming they are the only ones with the experience to fix them (IWR). We are sick of being told to fear anyone new ("Don't roll the dice"). We are ready for a bold new leaders. Clinton, with her "false hope" line of attack, is acting anti-inspirational. The problems we face are too great to play it safe.

13. You're fooling yourself, the public has no idea what's going on.. |
|
If you think the public is sick of the status quo, why do people continue to support a president who can't put a coherent sentence together? Why do people continue to buy homes w/out enough money? Why do people allow a war to take place w/out a peep (the amount of people who actually spoke out about the war are a fraction of our population)? Why do people still think we're possibly on the brink of a recession???? We're in a recession and careening towards a depression!!
The public, including us, has no idea what's going on and a majority of what we're seeing in this campaign has been planned out six ways til sunday and covered by the all-too-willing media. The media looooves the fact that Hillary's losing and they'll love it even more if Obama starts to lose because why?? It sells ads and keeps their pockets lined. We're the pawns.
Stick to your beliefs, pick the candidate that speaks to you the most and follow. Ignoret he crap.

16. They don't support this president, he has 30% support |
|
The media wasn't responsible for the amount of turnout in Iowa, they were blindsided by it. They don't know what hit them, and the results of NH are going to be similar.
We have nothing to fear from the "Bush has done nothing wrong and vote for me, I represent change!" republicans.

10. No--he has to get used to being the frontrunner. That's just the way it is. |
|
He fought his way to the top, so I think he'll stay there. Clinton's lead was due to a sense of inevitability, not because of actual support. Obama has actual support, he's proven he can win, his campaign has been validated. I'm not too worried.

14. No, it doesn't. I don't know if a sense of inevitability will help or hurt him, at |
|
this point. Hillary's inevitability peaked too far away from the actual voting, that's for sure.

15. I don't really know. Dan Rather was the one voice of reason... |
|
in a roundtable discussion over the weekend. I think it was a Chris Matthews weekend show...not sure.
Anyway, they "polled" their talking heads (can't call them journalists any more because they don't investigate anything) and every single one of them picked Obama as the candidate to win the primary.
Dan Rather's comment: "If I were Obama, I'd be very afraid of that."
He also commented that "journalists" (his word, not mine) need to stay out of the business of forecasting and simply research the past and report on the present.

17. That's not the question. The real question is: |
|
HOW is the media trying to set Obama up for a fall?
