Chicago Tribune: Clinton gets tough after emotional display, plays the Bush "terrorism/fear" card

Clinton turns tough again after earlier emotion

by John McCormick

Dover, N.H. – After misting up over a question about her campaign trail appearance, the tougher side of Sen. Hillary Clinton reemerged here this afternoon at a rally where she continued to stress her experience.

"I will be a much better president because I have had experience on both of Pennsylvania Avenue," she said.

Later, she raised the specter of a terrorist attack or other incident where experience will matter. "There will be things that none of us could predict," she said.

The New York Democrat suggested terrorists seek to take advantage of changing governments.

"They watch our elections as closely as we do, maybe more than some of our fellow citizens do," she said. "Let's not forget…you're hiring a president to be there when the chips are down and the problems are piling up…I hope I don't face any of those in my first 100 days, but if I do, I think I'll be ready."

6. It was me
But not in regards to Hillary. I was just saying that I'm surprised that doesn't happen to every candidate every day.

7. Let's recap
Interrupt opponents at debate to talk about your great level of experience
Call for a reality check after opponents talk about some deaths
Declare Vladimir Putin to have no soul
Have an "Emotional Moment" with press that is more suitable to the Lifetime Network than regular networks
Play the Terror Card.

She's floundering.

3. have we become a nation of cowards?
there once was a great president that reassured a frightened nation with these words......

"all we have to fear is fear itself"

these words were good enough for my parents and they are good enough for me.

8. If she brings up terrorism in a general the repukes will have her for lunch.
They will trot out the growth of Al Qaeda and blame it on her since she wants to run on Bill's record.

9. Take away the vote that Obama couldn't cast on Iraq (because
he wasn't even in the game when the war started) and what are their differences? Gene Lyons recently wrote that Obama's voting record is (my memory)"remarkably similar" to Hillary's so what outrages the Left so much about her?

And again, if Al Qaeda had killed 3,000 Chicagoans in the Sears Tower,Obama would've led the charge to "fight terror," whatever that means. If he didn't, he'd be the former senator from Illinois.

One thing to remember: HRC's the only candidate whose has to fight the GOP,and the Democrats and the press and the bloggers and that's a lot of fighting. Bush's press whores couldn't love Obama more if he was for tax cuts for the super-rich- that is, until he wins the nomination and THEN it's Obama's turn to fight the mediawhore press.

11. Voting to give Bush the authority to invade Iraq is not leading the charge to "fight terror."

Clinton followed Bush's lead--rather than stand up to him on Iraq. And Bill Clinton stood mute, as well.
