*********OFFICIAL********** Edwards ***** " We Support Our Candidate" Thread
We are going to be hearing the Clinton campaign say that he should stay in and the Obama folks saying he should bow out.
I don't know about y'all, BUT I'm not going to second guess THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE US. It is HIS decision and I abide.
:toast: to the candidate with the mostest!

65. Edwards chose poorly in the debate;
he sided with Obama and they both acted like bullies beating up on a woman....Women came out in groves to send the message to them. It was his weakest moment. Attacking is expected in this line of work, in a campaign, but one must stand on his or her own with head held high. Edwards was behaving like a plaintiff attorney in the debate, displayed bad taste and it hurt him today.

115. they treated Hillary as they would treat any other candidate. Why is it only sexist if THEY do it,
NOT when Hillary's people claim those big bad men are picking on poor widdle woman...?

146. Can Hillary keep playing the 'weak female' card?

Breaking down and crying because the men are ganging up on you doesn't seem like an indication of strength. How will she fare in the White House when and if there are Republican men who play much harder?

72. You and @15% of the Super Tuesday voters.
I wish he would have won, but his all-about-Iowa strategy didn't pay off.
South Carolina is the only state he won in 2004, and he won't even come close to winning it in 2008.
Bummer.

for you guys regarding NH:

Are you surprised that JE isn't having a stronger showing? Personally, I kind of assumed that since he came in ahead of Clinton in Iowa, we'd see the same trend here.

What are your thoughts?

His southern accent and pro-labor politics would be less popular in NH than in Iowa (also Northern, but a strong labor state)

85. John Edwards
has set the tone for the other candidates in the campaign, an issue lost in the corporate media that Edwards has promised to dismantle and rebuild to reflect a true meaning of a free press as opposed to a compliant, complacent press more concerned with getting invited to a Washington party than acting as a watchdog for the people.
The greed driven corporate slugs don't like being challenged. John Edwards will be ignored by the corporate media unless and until we let them know we are unhappy with their efforts to propagandize in the name of the bottom line. Our ass kissing media needs an ass kicking.
I wouldn't piss in Russert's mouth if his throat was on fire.

29. Make sure you vote UNCOMMITTED in the "Primary"
Don't let the Michigan "Democratic" Party disenfranchise you! The more people we can get to vote UNCOMMITTED the better. Our state party leaders were stupid when they agreed with the repubs to do the primary on Jan 15th. Levin, Stabenow, Granholm, and state chair Mark Brewer should all be ashamed for their actions!

177. No write-ins in Michigan
Any write-in candidate has to be registered as such prior to the election, and that time has passed.
State and national party leaders have effectively disenfranchised Democratic voters in Michigan.

178. National/State party squabble
Michigan tried to move up the primary date against party rules and most candidates at the time removed their names from the ballot on principle. Hillary left her name on, but Obama and Edwards withdrew.

IF the national party relents and seats Michigan delegates, Hillary and Dennis are the only choices left other than "uncommitted". If they do seat Michigan delegates, it'll be a victory lap for Hillary.

Our own party disenfranchised us. I think John Edwards would have done smashingly well here, too.

35. Cheers,
I support Edwards's message and I unequivocally support him. He has the ability to go on to do amazing things and I hope he knows how many of us believe that of him.

This whole process, the media, everything is making me more ill than usual. Allow me to be thoroughly redundant: force-feed me a candidate during the general election but not now, not during the primaries. This system is nothing to be proud of, as it's operating now -- with a lot a good and dedicated candidates hobbled by a lack of money or the media ... and most of their supporters and potential supporters being told their votes will be ceremonial, no more than a formality.

So here's to Senator Edwards (and may I propose, Patron Saint to Those Who Don't Count)... and another to Ron Paul for his 8% finish in the GOP primary and trouncing of Fred Thompson.

Damn will I be hungover tomorrow!

... the candidate who beats all the Republiks in head-to-head match-ups. Let's keep our eyes on the prize, people. We need to win in November.

Even if John isn't the candidate with the most delegates going into the convention, if he stays in the race, he could collect enough delegates to play a pivotal role in selecting the nominee and building the party platform. I'd like to see him do it. Just wish he had more money.

58. Still very much in it...
He'll get a second look from many who were expecting some sort of resolution by now, and perhaps the schedule can work to his advantage. Reasonable showings in Nevada and South Carolina can set him up for some good showings on Idiotic Tuesday, and if it's still a match after that, he gets into some more states that can really help him and might.

At some point, he becomes a story, and it's a story everyone likes: the underdog.

Good thing JE announced he will not be giving up any time soon - I was concerned about donating $$ to his campaign and seeing him drop out right after that - but he's made the committment and I'll back him up on it :)

And yes, I'm aware that Kucinich doesn't seem happy with Edwards - I've got email from Kucinich's staff explaining why he asked Iowa caucus-goers to go over to Obama rather than Edwards - but I have already made up my mind and am not likely to change it now :)

77. It's Super Tuesday
Changes are REQUIRED in this process.

Iowa & NH do not represent the general population of this country. I resent this tiny group dictating my choices. Biden and Dodd should not have dropped out (I'm for Edwards all the way) so soon.

I'd like the opportunity to Vote for MY candidate which will be Super Tuesday

The only way to get our Democracy back is:

eliminate the Electoral College - Direct vote

Public funding of all Elections - and no 527's period

Instant run-off voting - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting and http://www.instantrunoff.com/

Return the 'Debates' BACK to control of the League of Women Voters and get the process away from the Corporate Media stooges

144. You're exactly right,
I couldn't agree more. I would add that all primaries be done over 2 months dividing the states in quarters so that results are done preferably over the summer before the general and the conventions in the fall.

The whole "horse race" the MSM practices is a scam, who's up, who's down...what about what they stand for?? I'm glad for Olbermann, but that's it.

Go Edwards! We're hoping for a big win on super Tuesday!

Regardless of whether John wins the candidacy, he has already won the argument.

Pay attention to Hillary's acceptance speech. She is already beginning to throw in populist zingers. No matter what, at least the argument is shifting to a more progressive, populist and hopeful one.

I credit the supporters of Edwards and Kuncinich for that change.

Congratulations everyone!

113. I support Edwards completely. Sadly, it appears I will not be able to vote
in our CA primary. I moved in Oct and despite putting in my address change with DMV when I moved (which was supposed to automatically reregister me at my new address), and subsequently filling out and sending in a new registration form on paper, I have received no voter information or application for absentee ballot.

At some point I suppose I will have to personally drive hours on the freeway to get to Downey or wherever the hell the County Registrar of Voters is to personally submit my registration form AGAIN before the November election.

I have never had this happen before. All my moves and reregistrations over the decades have gone off smoothly. I am SICK over this.

125. You can't vote on a provisional ballot?
I *think* that in TX in cases like yours, you'd be able to fill out a provisional ballot so that your vote would be counted despite the address mix-up.

Please call the registrar and ask if this is something available to you, and if not, maybe there's some other way to avoid not being able to make your voice heard. :)

I don't even know when the primary will be, where my polling place is, etc. You used to be able to call them and speak to a human being to find out your info and status, but that was years ago. Now it's just endless pressing of phone buttons and the disembodied voice until you hang up in frustration......

158. If Obama wins he next primary it will be the Clinton people
who will call for him to step down.
Whoever is 3rd in the latest primary will be attacked if they stay in the race.

Here until the MSM and the voters see what John Edwards has to offer America.

160. Edwards is the best hope to win the election
and I don't know why the Clinton Obama supporters would even take the chance. He is the best of both worlds, though neither a woman nor a minority. I fear for this country. John, I'm pulling for America and for you.

161. Me.
I caucused for him, he won my precinct, and I will be an Edwards delegate at my county convention. Yesterday, I sent him my first donation (should have sent long before this, but oh well.)

I hope he stays in to the bitter end.

Last night's result was very disappointing, but it's only one state and there's a long way to go. We really need him to get more attention. He's being drown out completely, especially after last night.

Go Edwards! :patriot:

174. Edwards was an Ambualnce chaser
You know those low-life types of attorneys everyone hates because the are blood sucking leaches chasing ambulances so he can sue for millions (13M in fact). He is the Rudy Giuliani of the Democratic Party! A snake in the grass ready to snap at unsuspecting ankles. He may have changes since those days but you never know.

Last night I made up my mind finally. I'm coming out of the closet. I'm a Hillitarian !

Hillary is a woman of moral conviction and equity for all people. She is a strong woman that will swing the broom that will proudly sweep DC clean of all the repuke rubbish...and hopefully stick the long end of said broom up Bush's ass! She is a woman molded in common sense and with a razor sharp wit forged in fire and with a capacity for competence a Neocon could only dream about.

You ever wonder why the Repukes hate her so much? Because she is the most UNrepublican person in the world. She is the antithesis of what all Necons hold dear. She is indeed a compassionate humanitarian and a natural born leader, now ready to take charge of the situation and lead us out of the dark ages of Right wingerism.

I love the Clinton dearly. They are good for this Nation and we will prosper tremendously under her administration. She has all the tools and over abundance of experience at her disposal to make things happen. I will be helping out at the Hillary camp and will help her carry California in this election!
