7. I'd say 3 most (w/ Dodd) |
|
And I just can't get very excited about any of the rest.
Without Biden and Richardson, who will keep the kids from fighting?

Not much to talk about these days.
Looking forward to when the Senate is back in session.

14. Yeah, well we missed his wit during the debates when he *was* running. |
|
It would have been nice if they'd called on him more than once per hour.

Bill's a good man. I hope he'll consider a VP slot - and I hope the leading candidates will consider him good VP material.
God speed, Bill. NGU.

10. Democrats can't seem to get rid of the most qualified candidates fast enough. |
|
It just boggles the mind. You'd think watching how the Republicans were led around by Bush and his entourage the Democrats would learn something and be more careful. Wrong. They seem ready to jump into bed with anyone who offers them some powerful ear candy.

11. getting rid fast; no long term plan |

Yeah, I can just hear the GOP campaigns breathing a sigh of relief as B, D, and R dropped out. Well, no problem that most of our guys have no foreign policy experience - mow we'll be able to wing it well enough.(McCain = exception)
David Brooks' comment on PBS about the democrats looking back and regretting this is playing over and over in my head.
You know what also stinks? If the Dem. party had leadership, they would have thought this through and tried to stem the in-fighting. Create the experience + change ticket. Obama, Edward, or Clinton would have made GREAT vice presidential candidates this go-round. B, D, or R to (1) pull over independents and moderate republicans and make sure we get the white house back (2) use their foreign policy experience to clean up that mess and get our money, troops, time, energy, etc. back. Then O, E, or C gains foreign policy experience along the way and is a shoo-in for election (assuming no election stealing a la 2000 Gore). Voila! 16 years in white house.
This reminds me of Cuomo losing to Pataki in New York. Instead of thinking ahead and grooming another candidate, after 12 or 16 years of Cuomo (I forget, I'm tired), the bumper stickers were "no more Cuomo" (not for Pataki). So we got Pataki when I bet a different democrat could have easily slipped in.
OK, I'm rambling now. Grumble. Post earlier about eating our own was right on too.

15. Thanks for the acknowlegement. It is a shame. |

We lost the experienced and knowledgeable folks in the race. Hopefully, Biden and Richardson will have a place in the next administration. Depending on the candidate, they'd make either a great Secretary of State or VP.
Richardson gave one of the classiest withdrawal e-mails I've seen. He praised all the remaining candidates in very glowing terms and urged his supporters to pick the one they felt the best about.
