"Your challenge as a campaign is to damage your opponent without getting caught." |
|
Quote from one of the political campaigning masterminds. I posted three videos and am posting the link here, because I want to be sure everybody has the opportunity to watch. REALLY interesting and infuriating. Here's the link to the first one: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x83624

5. No... he had to pay a $500 fine! |
|
for hiring a black person to stand in front of a KFC and use that person as his candidate's "opponent" in the next election. Paid the guy $500. Then the operative got caught, and had to pay ANOTHER $500 fine. And that's it. $1000 to appeal to the racists and make sure his repuke candidate won the election (which he did).
Peachy.

3. On the video, he says that nothing happens. You don't lose your job, things |
|
continue on as usual.
It's the acceptance of it that astounded me. No outrage, no calls for change, just an almost amused acknowledgment that that's just how things are.

6. We're watching ploys play out in this race... |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 01:00 AM by TwoSparkles
A very cunning strategy is playing out now with the Clinton/Obama race issues.
First, we had surrogates like Karl Rove and others making borderline racist comments about Obama. They get the misnomers out in the air, causing damage.
Then, Obama stand up for himself and makes remarks about the statements made.
Bingo! They've got him--because Bill and Hillary never directly said anything racist. Others did.
Then--as planned from the beginning--Hillary's people release a long, impressive list of Hillary accomplishments and involvements in the area of civil rights and standing up for minorities. Hillary and Bill will make on-the-record statements--sounding reasonable, gracious, denying any racist comments were ever made--and they might even extend an olive branch to their maligned opponent.
In effect, when Obama counters the attack, and the opponent showcases a very impressive pedigree of "evidence" while pointing out that they never made racist statements (they didn't, their surrogates did)--the person who was initially attacked, looks paranoid, crazy and like they are manipulative, defensive and "playing the race card."
We're watching this all play out now.

7. Only people who believe in such a thing as a "race card" |
|
would fall for that. Other people would think that a series of questionable comments were made, and when challenged the Clintons feigned innocence and attacked the victim. Classic Rovian tactic that the Republicans have been using for years.

...that enlightened people like you, would understand that Obama is not "playing the race card."
Unfortunately, there are many cynical, ignorant people out there---and the Clintons can manipulate the situation so it appears that they've done nothing wrong and that it is Obama with the problem.
It bothers me that the Clintons are using these "Rovian" tactics, and that Karl Rove is leveraging Hillary Clinton with his Obama attacks from his cubicle at the "Wall Street Journal".
The interconnectedness between the Clintons, the neocons and Rove---is just stunning.

10. I think someone was betting on it... |

Counting on the people who believe in such a thing as a "race card" for votes. How else do they get the white men who have reservations about the qualifications of a woman? Then they can count on all of the supporters to fan the flames with outrage and strengthen their defense. Very clever.
