Sean Hannity says he doesn't understand why blacks supported for Clinton in the 90's
Mr. Sean Hannity from Fox was puzzled by the fact that African Americans voted for Bill Clinton in large numbers in the 90's.
He blamed Clinton for many things:

“I have said this for years and it is frustrating to me,” Hannity complained. “Because 90% of the African American vote goes to the Democratic Party in most elections. But yet Bill Clinton says his political mentor was J. William Fulbright who was a known segregationist. Al Gore father’s was not there for the ‘64 Civil Rights Act or the ‘65 Voting Rights Act. Lyndon Johnson was depending on Republicans to get those votes passed. I have Roger Clinton on tape using the “n” word multiple times. During the Clinton years, you have a former Klansman who used the “n” word on FOX News Sunday, Robert Byrd. And somehow the Democrats gave the Clintons a pass. He didn’t appoint African Americans to the highest positions of power. How did he get this reputation in the first place?

1. Yes, given how incredibly friendly the Republican Party has been towards blacks since the 60's,
this is totally puzzling, why they would support Democrats. A real enigma.

Powell - Chief of Staff
Rice - National Security Advisor
Gonzales - Attorney General
Chao - Secretary of Labor

Tried to put Harriet Miers on the Supreme Court, not because she was a woman but because she was loyal. Her being female was incidental, which would have been admirable, if it weren't in the service of loyalty to Bush.

Thomas - Supreme Court

The Bush' only love was for loyalty.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

who were the Clinton year equivalents?

Bader-Ginsburg -- Supreme Court
Janet Reno -- Attorney General

Zoe and Lani both got zapped.

The focus was on women. That's nice. Who else was part of the Clinton years?

10. I think most African Americans, Hispanics, and Asian Americans can see right through the
Republicans and tell the difference between appointing minorities to cabinet positions and actual policy, they are smart enough to do this, and that's why the Republicans don't have their support.

Pretty simple, really. Laundry list of appointments doesn't tell the story.

4. Probably because Republican are still using the N-word...
why by and large Democrats stopped long ago.

Also, the reason that President Johnson was worried about Al Gore's father not being there to vote for the Civil Rights Act was because ALL OF THE REPUBLICANS WERE VOTING AGAINST IT.

Thanks to the lowering of political discourse, the blacks are doing what everybody else is doing: voting the lesser of two evils.

11. that just isn't true
The percentage of GOP Senate votes for the Civil Rights act of 1964 was actually higher than the percentage of Democratic votes for it. Of course many of those Democrats who voted against joined the GOP later but back then the GOP was decent on Civil Rights if they came from a region which was decent.

12. I should have used "conservatives" instead
Southern Democrats of the era were social conservatives even if they were economically on the progressive side.

My bad.

7. Hmmm ...
Maybe because the Republicans alienated minorities by using the Confederate Flag and Affirmative Action as "wedge issues"??!!!

8. Hannity knows so little, one questions why he is allowed to...
open his mouth about anything.

We seem to have many regular posters who want to keep bringing up the 'sayings' of Hannity, Matthews, O'Really, and the rest of the talking puppets.

JGraz, indeed, a trainwreck.
