13. just my point the Clinton camp makes derogatory statements about Obama and...
then tries to retract them and then spins it saying its the Obama campaign doing most of it. well if you look at his website theres nothing about dividing race they don't even talk about African American issues.

20. Obama is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ which is committed to Africa.
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 06:10 PM by jody
Trinity United Church of Christ

We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

And “A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA.”

Obama said "It was because of these newfound understandings—that religious commitment did not require me to suspend critical thinking, disengage from the battle for economic and social justice, or otherwise retreat from the world that I knew and loved—that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity United Church of Christ one day and be baptized."

Perhaps Obama might clarify the issue by saying he is committed to the United States, not the “non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA” of his church.
