"Don't know what ya got 'til it's gone" (the Dean/Clark-less debates) |
|
First, I have to admit that I didn't see the whole debate. I did see some of it and I saw the recap on CNN. What I saw of it was unbelievably boring and rehashed. I think that my frustration since Iowa combined with how long I have been hating this administration and supporting Howard Dean had me so emotionally exhausted that I was almost relieved when he bowed out of the race. However, and even though Dean's last few debates were nothing to speak of, I am only now realizing how lifeless these things will be without the personalities of General Clark and Governor Dean. Don't get me wrong, I like DK and AS and are glad they are still in it and at the debates but I admit that I don't think either are electable. I suppose that neither Clark nor Dean were either but at least I thought they were realistic. More importantly, neither of them would've stood for being talked over by anyone. These things just suck now, and yes I'm ABB.

1. Clark's The One With The Plan To Get Us Out Of Iraq |
|
the Realistic Plan that works.
He also would have ACED the Values question.
Clark's stump speech that he developed was freaking PERFECT.
Ah well.
Here's to two candidates who fell by the wayside and their supporters :toast:

that line "Don't it always seem to go" has been playing in my head a lot in the last few weeks.
We're gonna do great, though.
Buh-bye, Dubya!

3. Emotional - frustration - and relief |
|
I have experienced those same things. Along with much grief when the decision was finally made official. I even posted on here that I proud my candidate chose to no long prolong our agony. Isn't being involved in politics funny?
I miss them also. Very much.

11. You might try watching a video |
|
Like the smackdown video (Remember the Faux News interview?)
Does wonders for me when I am missing Clark on the warpath. If you don't have it maybe I can get it to you. Let me know.

I'll never forget that, and I miss seeing that kind of thing now.

5. Couldn't agree more but... |
|
... Now I got a goddamn hair band ballad stuck in my head at 7:30 in the morning
Dean was the best candidate this party had since RFK, and Clark wasn't so bad himself. I'd like to think that in that parallel dimension, a Dean/Clark ticket is going to bury Junior.
Anybody got a map to that dimension :(

Clark/Dean!
Just kidding!
Yeah, without them it's a bit less. But hey, gotta keep moving. ABB.

I thought the debate was excellent. Intellegent, positive, powerful.
I don't miss Dean's mumbled slurs and insults on stage. Now I give Dean ample props for his campaign but debates were his weakest of all weak spots.

It's hard to watch a lot of the election stuff now. Can't get excited about the remaining candidates; don't have a lot of hope whichever of 'em has a chance.
And just sad about the right guy being gone.
But, we gotta keep trying. Give Bushco as much shit as we can. Maybe we'll get lucky, or maybe I'll just plain be wrong. I sure hope so.
Hugs to Deanies feelin' the same.

I find the primaries pretty boring now with both of them gone. Same old, same old. Well, at least Sharpton is funny, but he's from my hometown so his stuff isn't new to me.

16. Damn, now you've got me looking at my Clark memorabilia |
|
again and feeling sad. But you're right. Imagine Clark in that foreign policy segment at last nights debate. Imagine Dean in the middle of the Kerry/Edwards group hug.
At least I'm thankful that they the two of them got the ball rolling. This time around, it's changing the President. Next time around, it's changing the party.
Cheers to the grassroots - 'till we meet again. :toast:

Or great minds think alike. But that line does express my feelings now that Dean's gone (and Clark). They paved Paradise (the hope of a progressive future) and put up a parking lot (the same 'ol same 'ol Bush-lite stuff).

20. I was thinking about Dean while watching the debate |
|
last night. If Dean had gotten to the point where it was Dean vs. Candidate X--we probably would have seen a more aggressive and interesting debate.
I did like last night's debate but I think with Dean or Clark we would have seen more sparks going.
I can see the pros in having a softer debate but some real competition would have been very interesting.
