I will vote for Barack Obama in the California Primary February 5 |
|
During my down time (or my former hard drive's sown time), I decided that Barack Obama would make the best presidential candidate for the Democratic Party this year.
Hillary Clinton would make a fine president. I believe Barack Obama would make a better one. In spite of her assets, Senator Clinton has yet to convince me that she would make it clear goal to extricate American troops from Iraq at the earliesat possible date. I am not convinced she would not examine extensively analyzed polling data and triangulate her way out of Iraq. Iraq is not an issue that can be triangulated. The American occupation must end, the sooner the better, and the best way to bring this about is in a simple, straightforward manner.
The Bush regime has left Americans bitterly divided. I believe Senator Obama would be more likely than Senator Clinton to bring about the healing America needs. This may be because some Americans are willing to give Senator Obama a chance to heal them, whereas they not be willing to extend such an opportunity to Senator Clinton. Senator Clinton is simply hated in some quarters. That may not be fair, but it is a fact.
Finally, related to the previous point, I believe Senator Obama is more electable than Senator Clinton. Surely, the Democratic nominee will enter the final stretch of the election campaign as the odds-on favorite to win in November. However, a betting man might find putting money on the Republican ticket less risky if Senator Clinton is the nomoinee. Senator Obama has shown a better talent for attracting independent and crossover Republican votes.
For those reasons, I will vote for Senator Obama in the California Democratic primary on February 5.

the broad appeal of Obama. I really like his mind. Then I like that he is so representative of the mixture of people here and around the world. We live in the bay area and there are so many different people here from so many different parts of America and the world. I like seeing this reflected in the President we choose Multicultural is way more interesting. It is here anyway.

Congratulations on your decision.
About a week ago what Obama was saying finally sunk into my muddled brain. It was when I heard a NH editor talking about the differences between the Obama and Clinton campaigns. He said that when the Clintons entered the state they did the expected: meet with the power brokers and wealthy. In contrast when Obama came in he immediately started seeking out the community organizers and activists. The editor said that all of the seasoned political watchers couldn't understand it. They are used to seeing the candidates wait until late in the game to reach out to the activists when they wanted organize the "ground." To Obama, community organizing is the foundation. Now there's a real change. His idea is also a change I firmly believe in and explains why he is reaching out for indies and disgruntled republicans.
I would love to see Obama gain the bully pulpit. BTW, his environmental creds. are at the top of the field: 96%.

15. Excellent judgement and a vision is what this country needs...... |
|
and that's what Obama's got. That and he will motivate us to be better than we are at getting that vision accomplished.....it is all about us.
Plus, no Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton....
I'm praying I don't need to see 35 years of experience making bad decisions, i.e., Hillary in OUR White House.
