POLL: Monmouth/Gannett NJ Primary

A new Monmouth University/Gannett statewide survey of likely primary voters in New Jersey (conducted 1/9 through 1/13) finds:

* 475 Likely Democratic Primary Voters (± 4.5%)

42 Clinton
30 Obama
9 Edwards
2 Kucinich
1 Other
17 Don't know

* 400 Likely Republican Primary Voters (± 4.9%)

29 McCain
25 Giuliani
11 Huckabee
9 Romney
5 Thompson
5 Paul
0 Other
16 Don't know

5. She's not budging in NJ
He's moving. Just gained 8%, but it's a move. She dropped 15% of independents and he scooped those up. She lost 9% among minorities and he took 10%. But that's the only group he's leading her in, along with age 18-34. He did move up 9% in 35-54, which is good, and 6% over age 55, and gained 5% among women. So it's not breaking up dramatically, but he's moving in.

4. Those are terrific numbers for Obama and McCain.
McCain is turning into the front runner. I hope Romney wins tonight.
