Hey media!!! WHERE'S THE BEEF? |
|
So I'm sittin here watching the "horse race" in Michigan watching my adoring wife become frustrated over the reporting. She happens to be a Clinton supporter and I a Kucinich supporter.
Now, given that she's doesn't get all up in arms like some of the democratic yahoos who are activly involved with the candidates it's interesting to hear her shout this at the television, "WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE ISSUES? WHAT DO THESE PEOPLE STAND FOR?".
Now, keep in mind that unlike most of us she is not activly canvasing, making phone calls or pounding the pavement for a candidate.
Yet, this is one issue we see eye to eye on. It can not be argued that right now the media is necasarily swift boating any of the candidates. The reall problem is that they do not focus on the issues and focus on crap like polls, likability, electability and "this candidate appears REEEAL desperate when they double dip their chips in the guacamole'"
Right now this has to be the biggest frustration amongst the voters right now. I know that what I am offering here is an anecdote but it seems to prevalent amongst a lot of folks I run into here and elsewhere.
Even if they graze an issue the closest it's become amongst the corporate pundit networks is this riciculous "experience" argument. And even in that area they tend to omit a few of the candidates. Even so, experience can mean many different things and applys to many different areas of governance.
In the end, this which is viewed as one of the most important elections, is piling up to a bunch of bullshit.

1. Let's hope the bright side is that more US citizens stop watching teevee news... |
|
or if they still watch, they view it as the tragic farce it is.

3. I have to wonder if they do |

This shit is fucking boring.
Yet, I find it funny that when Maher did the "Caucaus Me" segment of his show, the voters looked confused. That's exactly what this shit is intended to do. It's not important to me who likes how Hillary dips her chips in the guacamole.
Most of Americans have no fucking clue where these candidates stand on the issues.

And the rich & powerful want it that way... they like that lots of people vote based on hairstyle, likeability, etc.

2. The DEM's are shooting themselves in the foot here. |
|
This could have highlighted the GOP's incompetence in the economy. Edwards would play well here IMHO.

4. The cult of personality they're trying to foist on us |
|
is as tired as when they did it with Bush.
"He's the kind of guy you'd like to have a beer with"
Was that really the best they could do to cover blatant election fraud? Is that all they're doing now?

but if people don't take the step to SEEK information - or know how to navigate the sea of information and misinformation online - it's a dismal process. Relying on MSM is so disappointing for so many people.
If we can get the $$$ out of the news departments once more, maybe we can get the Fifth Estate back.
