26. I'm surprised at the results so far.
I'm partial, of course, as anyone can see from my avatar, but I actually thought this was Hillary's best performance so far, and one of Obama's weakest. Yet in this poll Obama's way up there with Edwards, while Hillary's trailing. Something has changed on DU - a swelling in the ranks of the Obama supporters.

31. You know, I felt just the opposite! I thought Obama came thru very strongly
and Hillary not so much. Edwards is still my favorite, however.

I liked that Obama owned up to the Hillary remark coming off ungracious and he graciously admitted it. I admired that.

11. The debate revolved around Edwards' issues.
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 11:55 PM by JDPriestly
Edwards is the candidate who most clearly foresaw that the economy and energy independence will be the leading issues in 2008. I'm canvassing my neighborhood for Edwards -- to make sure that those are the issues for 2008.

The other candidates are just responding to the issues that Edwards chose to run on. Yes, they have policies on these issues and now act as though those issues were always their issues. But that is just their amnesia gone wild. These are the issues Edwards chose -- health care, jobs, the economy, corporate influence on our government, getting out of Iraq in the first year (first I've heard that Obama had announced to do that) and investment in a green economy and energy independence. Edwards lead on all of these issues. He is the winner of the campaign in that respect. What issues would the other two focus on if it weren't for Edwards?

Hillary would be fighting (and losing) with Giuliani about who is most capable to deal with terrorism and 9/11. Americans are concerned about that issue, but economic issues are in the forefront.

Of course, who knows what Bush is doing in Saudi Arabia? Is another 9/11 in the making? Just to keep the country's mind of the auction of America's assets to the Middle East?

21. I agree, Hatchling; however ...
that just cements my choices: Kucinich is #1, and Edwards is #2.

I must say I AM grateful for Edwards' voice, since the Mainstream Media is completing ignoring Dennis K.

38. Indeed: Kucinich completely ignored by MSM; Edwards virtually ignored/marginalized by MSM.
The MSM wants a 2-way race. Unfortunately for them, 3 dems & 3 repukes are still getting a lot of voter attention.

28. Since We're Not Allowed to vote for Kucinich
I had to pick Edwards as he is the best at co-opting Kucinich's positions for purposes of the campaign. Do I believe HE believes? Not a chance, but what other choice do I have.

16. Bush in Saudi Arabia...
you're right, who knows what he's up to?

But Hillary, to her credit, raised the point, saying he was "begging" them to up oil production to lower price. "How pathetic", she noted.

18. The MSM won't catch on even if Edwards wins Nevada.
In which case, the top 3 candidates in each party will have won 1 state:

Iowa - Obama, Huckabee
NH - Clinton, McCain
Michigan - Romney
Nevada - Edwards.

How strange is that?

And not one person on stage, not one moderator, and no one in the audience expressed any feeling one way or another about the way MSNBC treated Kucinich.

So don't blame the other candidates. They had nothing to do with it. It was MSNBC.

Kucinich in Nevada?

Granted, MSNBC behaved atrociously towards DK.

But you give Clinton & Edwards too much credit for (a) perniciousness, and (b) power and influence over the right-wing MSM if you think they had anything to do with what happened to DK in Nevada.

Tweety & Co. at MSNBC have coronation fever. One week they're coronating Obama and digging Hillary's grave. The next week they're coronating Hillary again. It has nothing to do with DK. They're just assholes trying to control how the country thinks about the election.
