Obama and Edwards need to form a symbiotic relationship. |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 11:58 PM by Wolsh
Obama needs Edwards to drop out to consolidate the anti-Hillary vote. Edwards needs Obama to promise him a spot, either AG or VP to keep his political career alive. Why doesn't this happen? Its beneficial to both of them.

4. There is no evidence of there being an anti-Hillary vote. Obama will have to win on his own |
|
Edwards won't and can't rescue Obama.

27. lol no. There is no significant "anti-Obama" bloc and there is no significant "anti-Hillary" bloc |
|
At least among Democrats. We can talk about Hillary's high negatives with the rest of America but that is has nothing to do with her performance in Democratic primaries.

is if he did this. I am not in Obama's camp (stuck between him and HRC),but I think JRE sucked in the 2004 general election and has changed his tune so much in 6 years I cant trust him.

12. I don't think Edwards voters necessarily go to Obama |
|
I think the smartest thing is for Edwards to order his delegates go to Obama at the convention in exchange for VP.

Edwards doesn't want to tutor Obama on how to be president. If Obama wants to win it, he'll have to do it on his own, not with Edwards help.

13. You assume that all Edwards voters would go to Obama, and I don't think that's true. |
|
Edwards has a lot of supporters who think southern, white, male= moderate/conservative, and they likely have Clinton as their second choice, not Obama.
Obama actually needs Edwards to stay in to soak up otherwise Hillary supporters.

16. Actually Edwards supporters are progressive populists |
|
as is Edwards platform. Obama is corporate conservative Dem - weak, pro insurance lobby health care plan, weaseling on keeping combat troops in Iraq, corporate focused energy and economic policy.
Anyone who thinks Obama is progressive needs to read his position statements.

Those would be the ones who don't read candidate platforms before making their decision, so they don't know how progressive John Edwards really is. Like I said, they hear a southern, white male and think "aha, a conservative!"
