The Swiftboating Of Hillary Clinton
Republicans may be busy bashing each other, but once they pick their candidate, they will join together in lockstep to trash the Democratic nominee, and the eventual Democratic President.

If that person turns out to be Hillary Clinton, I am wondering - what's the plan for dealing with her eventual swiftboating?

If she becomes the nominee and eventually the President, she'll be swiftboated in two ways, for sure. One, will be that every perceived/actual sin of Bill Clinton's will be Hillary's. And two, she will be compared as President Hillary to President Bill in every way, for the bulk of her first term, and depending on her own reactions, into her second (if she has one).

And just like George Bush Jr., Hilary will react, in human fashion, by trying to prove she is NOT Bill.

Thats one hell of a chip to carry into the Presidency...

So Hillary supporters - any thoughts?

2. Barak Obama is untested. He hasn't lived with the swiftboating like Hillary
has. His whole personna could be rounded up and tied up in a bow. With hillary she is too well known to have her entire personna rewritten with swiftboat lies (like what happened to Kerry).

7. I'm over being 'scared' of the GOP
Obama was not my favorite candidate. But in the process of separating truth from fiction I have learned more about him. Here's something you might find interesting:

Obama's Varied Record

By CHRISTOPHER WILLS – 6 hours ago

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — By some measures, Barack Obama has a thin record. He's a Senate newcomer who has never worked in the White House, governed a state or run a business.

Democratic presidential rival Hillary Rodham Clinton points to his resume as evidence that Obama is not ready for the White House. "He was a part-time state senator for a few years, and then he came to the Senate and immediately started running for president," she says dismissively.

Obama's accomplishments are more substantial and varied than Clinton suggests. And he has a longer record in elected office than she does, as a second-term New York senator.

Obama was a community organizer and led a voter-registration effort in Chicago that added tens of thousands of people to the rolls. He was a civil rights attorney and taught at one of the nation's premier universities. He helped pass complicated measures in the Illinois legislature on the death penalty, racial profiling, health care and more. In Washington, he has worked with Republicans on nuclear proliferation, government waste and global warming, amassing a record that speaks to a fast start while lacking the heft of years of service.

----------------------------------------------------

After college, Obama moved to Chicago for a low-paying job as a community organizer. He worked with poor families on the South Side to get improvements in public housing, particularly the removal of asbestos.

"Nobody else running for president has jumped off the career track for three or four years to help people," said Jerry Kellman, who first hired Obama as a community organizer.

Obama also fought for student summer jobs and a program to keep at-risk children from dropping out of school. More importantly, say those who worked with Obama, he showed people how to organize and confront powerful interests.

"He had to train residents to stand up for their own rights," said former organizer Loretta Augustine-Herron, who was part of Obama's Developing Communities Project.

most likely not use the words chose by the writer of the piece you quoted - or we might use a few more words to make clear the accomplishment.

For instance - the "he has worked with Republicans on nuclear proliferation" refers to a little amendment to a major bill that "directed" the State Department to write a paper on their plans for stopping nuclear proliferation - no funding, nothing else. I can not find a copy of the paper, if any, written in response to that amendment.

9. Yes, we know how terrible Hillary is. That's why we should vote for her.
I think this is not a smart electability argument.

3. Juanita Brodrick
strange how all those rumors about what Bill Clinton supposedly did to her are really more about Hillary Clinton's response. Strange how it wasn't an issue during his 1992 or 1996 campaign, or brought up during his impeachment, but only used against Hillary's character.

14. Wow yourself
Attacking my IQ is relevant, exactly...how?

So what, you don't think Hillary is going to be under CONSTANT attack by the Repukes, once they've picked their new fuhrer? Or is she some kind of super-human, able to resist the call of her own ego when the inevitable comparisons to President Bill start up?

8. They also have their plans for Obama
You will not change opinions by trying to put up scare stories.
Since Obama is unknown quanty --it will be easier to make them stick.

People have heard GOP attack HRC so much--they no longer pay attention.
Oh they are their old games.

21. Well, true swiftboating aims at a candidate's strengths.
As one of her supporters, I have tried to anticipate which way the boaters will go with Hillary but I haven't come up with anything that hasn't already been tried.

She is strongest on women's, children's, health issues but there isn't anything there.

She is extremely knowledgable and well-spoken - how do you swiftboat that?

Sorry, I just can't answer your question.

23. Republicans are bashing each other?
From the OP: "Republicans may be busy bashing each other, but once they pick their candidate, they will join together in lockstep to trash the Democratic nominee, and the eventual Democratic President."

That's not as bad as:

Democrats may be busy bashing each other, but once they pick their candidate, they will continue to trash the Democratic nominee, each other, and the eventual Democratic President.

Somehow I think we're just not going to be happy with success.

:hi:
