Possible scenario: Your candidate just dropped out of the Dem presidential race.
What would YOU recommend him/her? What should his/her next step be, politically speaking?

My case: Barack Obama should either accept the VP spot if offered to him or consider the Governorship of Illinois.

1. Hillary: Accept that the president dream is over and try to take over the Senate

Probably wouldn't work, since she's not the sort of vanilla fair-broker that gets that job.

But she's like a shark... gotta keep moving

2. My candidate DID drop out of the race and I would recommend he NOT
take a VP spot if offered, nor SOS or any job in the new administration. I'd recommend he stay right where he is serving the good people of Delaware and continue fighting the good fight for our veterans and for us all.

5. Maybe, but I think he'd be somewhat constrained by being part of the
administration -- would have to talk the admin talk. Don't you think that would drive him nuts?

10. I hope he would take VP. I'm afraid his year was now. He was my first choice.
I think he would be a great VP, under the right person.

7. Biden should consider
I was a Biden supporter. I now think he would be a perfect running mate for Obama if he should win. Or he could make a great Sect. of State.

9. If we can spare Obama in the Senate,
which may be possible, he should run for governor of Illinois.

Do you have any idea of the mess we have in this state? The Democrats, who were kicking repuke ass here, are fighting each other tooth and nail. Obama could unify them, plus, he would make a great governor.

Modern-day governors win the Presidency far more often than Senators. And the experience argument would be nullified. He could win his next run at the Presidency handily.

I have always felt that he should be governor first. It would be good for him, and good for Illinois.

As for Clinton, if she dropped out, and we could spare her in the Senate, I believe she should take the Vice-Presidential spot if offered. She would make a wonderful adviser. She could use her experience as a Senator to advise the President on how to work with Congress. She could use her knowledge of the world of the White House to further the President's agenda. Her next run for the Presidency would put her in an even better position to win the election.

Either of them would do a great job. Both of them are necessary to the future of our party and our country.

11. Obama needs to get out of Congress IMO
And Edwards needs a real job.

I no longer care about Hillary... and she's my senator.

13. Keep Barack in the senate
Hillary could easily lose the general election.... (her negatives were huge before the MLK comment, I assume they are even worse now)....and be the presumptive Democratic Nominee in 2012. I just can't see a Clinton Obama ticket as viable. She already has Bill to upstage her, she does not need Barack too.

I apologize to all the Clinton supporters out there, just calling it as I see it. Democrats blowing another election is a pretty save bet.
