Obama Edges Clinton in Delegate Count
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 08:42 PM by ProSense
Obama Edges Clinton in Delegate Count:

LAS VEGAS -- The Nevada Democratic caucus has turned into a kids' soccer game: everybody is a winner.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is the declared winner of the Nevada caucuses. But Sen. Barack Obama walked away with more delegates.

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe called the delegate win significant because it pointed to Obama's support across the state, from Elko to Reno to sprawling Las Vegas, along with the rural counties in between. He called it "a demonstration of what a strong general election candidate (Obama) will be."

1. um ...
“I don’t know why they’re saying that,” said Jill Derby, President of the Nevada State Democratic Party, referring to the Obama campaign. “We don’t select our national delegates the way they’re saying. We won’t select national delegates for a few more months."

...

Egg meet face.

3. Hillary won the Caucus
Obama's spinning like a top and the delegate question won't be settled for a few more months per Nevada rules.

11. Sort of
Jill Derbey is saying that it's not official until April. Her thinking is that Obama will be out by then and Obama's delegates will go for Hillary.

10. Hillary won, BUT
It sounds like delegates are apportioned partly by county.

Clinton won 6 counties, Obama won 11.

Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 08:51 PM by JackORoses
but according to the formula in the Caucus rules, 13-Obama 12-Clinton will be the final count

The Hillarites are trying to muddy the waters.
