For 2012, let's do away with the caucus system |
|
At least, the convoluted one in Nevada and in any other state that does not follow secret ballots.
And whatever the system was in Nevada - that some caucuses had more delegates than others - and I am not even trying to understand this - scrap it.
I don't know what were the reasons behind it and it does not matter. We already have several reports on DU about how chaotic and intimidating and perhaps even fraudulent some caucuses were in Nevada.
Let's have a system where voters can get behind the curtain and cast a secret ballot for their preferred candidate. And if any state wants to have town hall meetings to discuss other issues, by all means, do it, but keep the vote casting simple and secret.
No, Obama is not my preferred candidate though, of course, I will vote for him if he is the nominee. But that system has to go.
And while we are looking at Nevada, let's replace Harry Reid with Chris Dodd as the Senate Majority.

1. There were only two hours of caucus time, I think. |
|
That's a hardship for people who can't get off work.

2. Not until we do away with the electro-fraud machines first |
|
The caucus system may have its problems, but it beats the shit out of deliberate, untraceable fraud.

11. I agree. Damn skippy and if a state that holds a caucus now |
|
says they will not change then maybe President Clinton who will most likely chose the head of the DNC will tell said person if a state refuses then strip them of their delegates (like dean did michigan and florida).....

12. I think a National Primary is inevitable now |
|
Between the states trying to change dates to go first, and the inconsistencies among states (caucuses, indys can vote in some states, but can't vote in others), I think a national primary with some kind of standard voting criteria across all states is coming.
