Obligatory Star trek reference for : Caucuses are like Fizzbin (Nevada appropriate)
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 06:35 AM by robbedvoter
The name of the game is called, uh ...
fizzbin.
Fizzbin?
Fizzbin. It's, uh ... not too difficult.
Each player gets six cards,
except for the player
on the dealer's right, who gets seven.
On the right?
The second card is turned up, except on Tuesdays.
On Tuesday.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, look what you got, twojacks.
You got a half fizzbin already.
I need another jack.
No. If you got another jack,
why, you'd have a sralk.
A sralk?
Yes. You'd be disqualified.
You need a king and a deuce,
except at night, when you'd need a queen and a 4.
Except at night.
Right.
Oh, look at that.
You've got another jack!
Ha ha ha!
How lucky you are! How wonderful for you.
If you didn't get another jack,
if you'd gotten a king,
why, then, you'd get another card,
except when it's dark, you'd give it back.
If it were dark on Tuesday.
But what you're after is a royal fizzbin,
but the odds in getting a royal fizzbin are astron --
Spock, what are the odds in getting a royal fizzbin?
I've never computed them.
Well, they're astronomical, believe me.
Now, for the last card. We'll call it a kronk.
You got that?

A piece of the Acion

5. they made up the rules as they went along
Kirk and Spock did that is, to some poor fool who thought he was in the 1920s.

That is appropriate on more than one level.

6. Not the best-written scene in that series
But the writers needed something for a prelude to a fist fight.

7. Best scene in the best comedy episode. Writing, acting - all. Now - Nevada
Now, which half-wit from THAT planet came up with the caucus system and for what reason?
Kirk made Fizzbin up to confuse his captors - so he could trick them.

9. Now I found out that I was closer than I though: they use cards to decide ties!

The second group was fun. Four people total, two firmly Hillary, and two firm for Edwards. And all of them were the nicest people. This was where I found out how we decide ties, with a special pack of Caucus Cards.
