Hillary makes statement on Gay youth and suicide..
http://www.towleroad.com/2008/01/hillary-clint-3.html

"It's such a serious problem and I've done a lot of work on this in New York because I'm well aware of the depression and anxiety and frankly the high rate of suicide comparatively among gay teens. First, number one we've got to do everything we can to send a clear message that we value you. We value you as a person, you as a total person and we want you to feel accepted and respected in your community and you'll certainly have a president who feels that way. There need to be more services. Sometimes it's difficult in school and there's not a lot of understanding and sensitivity. We;ve got to do more to help prepare school officials and frankly your peers in school. Just because somebody doesn't understand doesn't mean they should to be a bully They need to really be taught and guided to be more accepting and that is something that I feel very strongly about. There's even a school in New York that I have supported that is just for gay teens because it is very difficult in many areas for people to find any acceptance whatsoever. We need more health services. We need more mentoring and assistance so that you don't feel so alone..."

Wow..Hill stands up for gay youth..Obama embraces gay bigots..
This ALONE is why I will vote for her..

6. Well, her husband signed the Indefensible Marriage Act.
No chance in Hell that she would be the one to repeal it.

Sadly, the only candidate who stood for full equality dropped out of the race :evilfrown:

This paean to their "tolerance" nonwithstanding.

Racist homophobes -- go back to Arkansas, hayseeds.

28. Your candidate stated, on repeated occasions, while running for Congress
in 1996 that he would have voted for DOMA and that he felt it didn't need repealed. He went throught not one, not two, but three full terms of Congress without doing any thing whatsoever to repeal that law. Only upon running for President did he decide to do this. In short, it is about as hypocritical as it gets to criticise Hillary for DOMA but give Kucinich a pass.

8. same as the other two
at least she doesn't claim "religious" opposition. She wants to be electable, which she won't be if she supports SS marriage

9. She is the only one of the 3 candidates not opposed to same sex marriage
though she acknowledges civil unions would be more expedient (duh).

Her position is that marriage is a state's issue.

13. She's said she'll repeal section 2 of DOMA
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 10:24 PM by maddiejoan

<snip>

DOMA contains two provisions: one that gives states autonomy on marriage and one that prohibits federal recognition of same-sex marriages. With the precision of a neurosurgeon, Clinton cut herself free of the second plank of the law while continuing to embrace the first plank, essentially saying that she would let states decide their own destiny on marriage but leave the door open for federal recognition of same-sex unions.

“Senator Clinton believes that each state should make its own decisions regarding marriage or civil unions, but once a state legalizes such relationships, these relationships should receive full federal recognition and benefits,” Ethan Geto, senior national adviser to Senator Clinton on LGBT Issues, explained in an e-mail to The Advocate. “As several states have legalized gay marriage or civil unions, Senator Clinton has come to believe that the restrictions imposed by DOMA on federal government recognition of same-sex relationships are unfair.”

and they both OPPOSE a federal amendment to ban gay marriage, preferring to keep church and state separate.

21. "Associating"? More than half of DU associates with Republicans and other freaks
because they are co-workers, neighbors, business associates.

Did Hillary select any of them for a free platform to spew bigotry?

16. Hillary Has Always Supported LGBT
Following the Clintons from AG of Arkansas to the White House both Bill and Hillary have supported LGBT. Now, Gore just spoke out yesterday of allowing gay marriage. The Clintons have never gone that far.

To be fair to both Barrack and John supporters, I hope they can tell us where there candidates stand on LGBT's. I've never really read or heard much from the two candidates on this. Am just curious.
