Poll question: Who is your favorite Dem candidate's spouse and why?
Please include (even a brief) post explaining your choice. By the way, I'm impressed with all of them , and have wondered more than once if the wrong spouse is running!

Thanks, Dems!

4. I had to go with Ms Edwards
who has come to exemplify the phrase "grace under pressure" for me. But Ms Obama is also one of those people who makes you proud to be a member of the human race.

6. No contest.
Elizabeth Edwards is the epitome of kindness and caring. I think she would make an excellent president in her own right.

9. Of all the spouses
I feel that she would be the best influence. The woman is WONDERFUL! But although Edwards is my choice, the others aren't bad either.

11. I love Bill and I love Elizabeth, in different ways. I don't feel I can pick a favorite.
Bill was the Democrat who won, and who did so earning the approval of people across the board, while under the most obscene unrelenting political attack in history. Despite signing DOMA into law, it was a time of real progress for gays in America, and I'm grateful.

Elizabeth - I don't know what to say. A wonderful person with the right values and personality and a beautiful strength about her. She seems like one of those special people in the world who you're blessed just to know.

14. I love both Elizabeth Edwards and Michelle Obama.
I can't pick!

Elizabeth Edwards is so down to earth and so natural. She says what she thinks, with honesty and passion. I love the relationship that she has with John. She only makes him better! She is the one communicating on boards with us because she is one of us. And she has handled her health problems so incredibly.

Michelle Obama is so funny and smart and impressive. I love listening to her talk and I love how she focuses life on their kids (who are beyond adorable!). She seems like such a great mom. And she is a smart cookie. She knows how to say things, to give it a more personal touch so that we can relate to her and Barack.

Both of these women would make absolutely INCREDIBLE first Ladies. I would be so proud of them!

also make an exceptional first lady.

23. Elizabeth Edwards!!!
She has been a true and equal partner to John in every sense of the word, "partner," and she has done so out of love and devotion to him, to their family, and to our country - not out of overweening ambition.

She has dealt with personal tragedy (e.g., the loss of Wade, her own battles with cancer), while still raising a remarkably well-adjusted group of kids.

Just watching Cate with her younger siblings, it is obvious that there is love and mutual respect in that family. Cate is smart, sharp as a whip, articulate, gracious, tough-minded, and just amazing.

Finally, I think the White House Residence conversations will advance a progressive agenda: for example, I think that President John Edwards will have at least two incredibly intelligent women pushing him in a firm, supportive fashion, toward fuller equality for the LGBT community, and I'd lay a wager that the word, "triangulate" will never be heard at their dining room table, or in their living room while they eat on TV trays.

24. Elizabeth a totally classy lady
who unselfishly put her husband and country first while battling a life threatening disease. :loveya: Also she is intelligent proving that in one way by being a fellow DUer. ;-)

29. Really?
Why? I heard her speak for about a half hour on C-span. She was poised, funny, and personable IMHO. I realize that these things are subjective, but I was impressed. And Obama isn't even my candidate.

31. Yeah, there's something about her
that irks me. She's made some whiny comments that really turned me off about her. Plus, I am not really a big Obama fan so that has something to do with it.
