I think something is in the air in SC (remember anchors have seen exit polls)
I always think you get some kind of indication by the tone the anchors take before the polls close. From what I've heard on msnbc coverage with KO so far is that they are really preparing us for a surprise and that the subject of race by the top two candidates has had an impact. I could be very much wrong (and I admit that) but I think the surprise is that John Edwards did much better than expected--not winning--but I think he may very well be second.

4. How would that be a surprise?
We're expecting Obama to win big in the black vote. Did he also take the white?

We know Edwards was gaining and in some polls passed Clinton. Where is the surprise?

7. In what poll had he PASSED Clinton? Link?
A second place showing by Edwards would be a SHOCK and stun the Clinton campaign. I know of no poll that has showed Edwards actually passing Hillary for second place in SC. If you have it - could you post a link?

28. No way Obama took the white vote
He would be very lucky if he beat Clinton among whites. The movement among whites was to Edwards. Black undecideds were also breaking for Edwards at a high rate.

heard Edwards mentioned other than Chuck Todd commenting twice and the others changed the subject.

On edit: I guess that's your point. LOL. That he may have done VERY well, so they're trying not to mention him AT ALL, hoping what they're seeing/hearing is wrong.

22. If he doesn't win there, then where does he win?
That's what one of the MSNBC anchors just said about the Edwards campaign in South Carolina. And that's a very good question. If he can't win in the state of his birth, then he has a big problem.

And remember that Edwards couldn't even carry either South or North Carolina for the Kerry ticket in 2004.

One reason why I support Obama is because I believe that he is the one candidate who can carry the South, which no other Democrat has done lately. And we may very well need the South to win in November.

26. Your logic is flawed
Kerry SPENT ZERO DOLLARS in N & S Carolina! There is no possible way that the ticket could carry either by NOT spending a dime. Gore spent millions in Tennessee in 2000 and did not carry the state he was born in. Get off the "He didn't carry his home state" BULLSHIT!!

38. You just made my point.
Yes, Gore is another good example of what I'm talking about. No national Dem candidate has done well in the South lately. Obama will break that trend and carry many southern states due to strong support from African American voters and young white voters. And that is our ticket to the White House in 2008.

31. I wouldn't be surprised
considering the number of pictures of black folks in SC I've seen toting Edwards signs. His message would resonate much better with them than Obama's idiotic one of trying to work with the pigs who have kept them down for so long.

Sorry, Obama folks, to be so blunt, but there it is. You get to like who you like, but he needs to try to work with that scum in the Senate and find his back full of daggers before he's ready for prime time.
