Dear Friend,
The 2008 elections are shaping up to be an epic battle, and veterans are at the forefront of that fight -- with good reason. These elections will largely determine whether we stay the course and look for a purely military solution to Iraq, or whether we will make a serious attempt at diplomatic and political efforts that can take the burden of securing Iraq off our military's back. We know that until we figure out how to safely and responsibly bring troops home, there is simply no way we can get serious about stepping up military efforts against al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan, or meeting our global commitments.
VoteVets.org is the leading political group of veterans, and I am personally asking every veteran to sign up with VoteVets.org, and join this fight.
I helped VoteVets.org get off the ground at its outset -- that's how firmly I believe in this great group of veterans. I still serve as the head of its board of advisors, and lend whatever help they need.
The group has had a great deal of success -- electing four veterans from the current conflicts to Congress, defeating those who do not support the troops, and seriously impacting the debate, to ensure the troops are heard.
We can always use more of your voices. I know we all have family obligations, job obligations, and other considerations, but now is not the time to just sit on the sidelines. Now is the time to stand up for your fellow troops and veterans.
The best way to do that is for every veteran to join me at VoteVets.org and sign up now.
Sincerely,
Wes Clark
