I don't know that polls of a candidate's home state are necessarily the best indicators of viability.

George Wallace won the Alabama primaries in 1964 & 1972

Teddy Kennedy won the Massachusetts primary in 1980.

Gary Hart won the Colorado primary in 1984.

Al Gore won the Tennessee primary in 1988.

Dick Gephardt won the Missouri primary in 1988.

Paul Simon won the Illinois primary in 1988

Tom Harkin won the Iowa caucus in 1992.

Paul Tsongas won the Massachusetts priamry in 1992.

John McCain won the Arizona primary in 2000.
