Howard Dean: Florida' Jan 29th Primary must be a non-binding Beauty Contest
This statement goes out to the latest Obama haters for him making the same statement that Florida is nothing more than a Beauty Contest

Before filing the lawsuit, Nelson and Hastings offered Dean several alternatives to the DNC punishing Florida, such as getting states with early-primary status to move ahead one week; or, holding a Florida Democratic convention after the primary to formally ratify the vote; or, mounting a last-ditch effort to get state lawmakers to push the primary back a week or so.

But Dean, in a Sept. 21 letter , rejected the proposed solutions as not in compliance with national party rules. Dean has said Florida’s Jan. 29 primary must be a non-binding beauty contest, and the state party must choose its delegates in a later caucus.

1. The rules are the rules
If the Florida state legislature (run by Repugs) had something to do with this change of date, then that should have been discussed -- well in advance of this recent squabbling. I don't think Dean and the party leadership would have been against finding some compromise if their own state party members weren't to blame for moving the date up, but if they were complicit, then they -- and the candidates -- need to just abide by the rules and elect their delegates later on. Is Hillary afraid that her poll numbers will only FALL as the election cycle continues? If not, why is so she so determined to get her delegates now? It's like cutting in line at the supermarket ...

3. The whole process is a fraud.
Sadly, the Democrats had no say in this change of rules since they are not in the majority.
Shame on Dean for going along with this BS. To think I once supported him.

4. Washington Democratic primaries have never been anything BUT a non-binding beauty contest
When Washington adopted a primary, the state could not obligate the parties to abide by the results. The Washington Democratic Party obliged the state and has never -- not ONCE -- used the primary results to apportion delegates.

Frankly, I fail to see what all the fuss is about.
