We have all seen the President on the State of the Union night as he walks down the aisle and presses the flesh with many members of Congress. Sometimes a lucky member will even get a hug or a kiss on the cheek. Ever wonder how those people came to be sitting in those seats?

It's nothing so formal as assigned seats. Indeed not. Instead, it's an old Washington game of putting yourself in the right place for the maximum exposure.

I can't identify all of the Senators, but it's clear that Kennedy comes before Obama, followed by three others and then Biden and Clinton.

If it was assigned alphabetical seating, then someone has SERIOUS issues about knowing the alphabet.

And the top photo being a snub is absurd. Clinton just happens to be facing away from Biden AT THAT MOMENT, to address someone on the opposite side of her. So what? Biden is looking in her general direction and smiling (not looking at her, but clearly not avoiding her) - hardly looks like he's being snubbed.
