in their OP. A good example of what I'm talking about is when you are looking for a movie on the NetFlix site...They provide a summary of what the movie is about within a paragraph of 30 words or less.

39. There have been 5 primaries since Rev. Jackson won |
|
Why not mention the winner of one of those (especially since Jackson didn't win a SC primary - it was a caucus then).
If someone wants to point out that a win in SC doesn't guarantee the nomination, why not use John Edwards as the example? Using Jesse Jackson as the comparison is a somewhat suspect.

white America as "too black" He was NEVER seen as a candidate who transcended race. He got single digit white support in SC even though he won the state. I'm happy to say I voted for him here in Vermont and that he won my state. Hell, he even won the Northeast Kingdom where I live. But that's Vermont and we're a little bit different than you flatlanders.

about the campaign and bringing new voters into the fold JUST AS JESSE JACKSON DID IN 1984. He gave Jesse Jackson credit for helping the Dems win back the congress in 1986.
You folks are just sick. I knew this was going to happen.
there was absolutely nothing wrong with what Mayor Brown said. You Obama supporters who raise this as a racial slur are the one who are marginalizing Jesse Jackson and black voters.

A much more apt comparison - just four years ago, both won the SC primary (as opposed to a caucus, which is what Rev. Jackson won) and Edwards didn't get the nomination afterward.
Let me guess . . .

23. I wrote earlier concerning this non issue, but here it is again |

for all you obama folks. When did it become racist to mention political history when talking political history? I saw the exact clip, but not the comments before and after. If some reporters ran up to Clinton and said, "Ha ha, your wife couldn't even win Carolina, what do you have to say about that, Mr. Politics?" and his reply was, "Jesse won Carolina TWICE and he's not president, so maybe winning Carolina isn't the great springboard you guys claim it is." NOW HOW IS THAT RACIAL? And who in Carolina doesn't know Jesse Jackson is black?
What nobody is mentioning is the undeniable slap at Jackson. "Don't you DARE compare Obama to Jesse," as tho Jesse was another Willie Horton. Makes one wonder how ashamed is the Black community of Jesse Jackson?
So is this the same Willie Brown that was mayor of San Francisco? What? Now blacks are racists in the eyes of obama folks?

In 1965, Jesse Jackson participated in the Selma to Montgomery marches organized by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and other civil rights leaders in Alabama.

Brown mentioned that both candidates brought people to the party who had never voted before. Clinton said that Obama won SC as the black candidate just like Jesse won as the black candidate. These are very different statements.

Truly, there is no reason to go insane with this stuff...the comment made perfect sense. Very few people have brought in vast numbers of new people to the process. Jackson was one of the last ones to do this. Barrack is clearly doing this now.

He said BEFORE the primary, "Jesse Jackson won South Carolina twice, in '84 and '88. And he ran a good campaign. Senator Obama's run a good campaign here, he’s run a good campaign everywhere."
This was a rather bizarre comparison since this wasn't a discussion about black candidates. It was odd that he linked the two together.
