Edwards timing is very interesting.
there is two ways to look at it..

It was timed in kahoots with Obama to take the sails out of the Cliton victory in Florida

It was timed with the Clinton Folks because he is going to endorse Hillary.

1. Let the speculation begin!
I don't think he'll endorse HRC.

2. Could be either
The only thing I can guarantee is --the timing is on purpose.

Edwards is a fighter --and he's playing his best hand, whatever it is.

12. funding was not drying up
he raised several hundred thousand on just last Thursday alone! and he raised more money in the past 25 days than the entire 4th quarter. The 15% thing is the strongest argument here. It's not 'nothing to sneeze at' but it's also a percent that was crippling his chances for delegates, and if he was at 20% this might not have occurred. I cannot wait to hear what he has to say, and hear his endorsement for ......

5. or neither
Being a man of integrity, he may have just wanted to make the Feb 5th a more defining statement of where the party stands. His leaving the race makes Super Tuesday much more important to the overall outcome. Now, we may actually have a winner after Feb 5th.
I couldn't say that earlier.

6. The only person who really benefits from his withdraw is Obama based on
primary results. In the majority of the states it has been very close for clinton with the exception of Florida and South Carolina. If Edwards voters go for Obama, then he could get the edge. Many see Hillary as already having a slight edge over obama nationally.

8. I don't think Edwards supporters are ....
a monolithic group who will just move to Obama...I think they will decide...one by one...

11. I really think the edge goes to Hillary in this
as she no longer has to split the blue collar vote with Edwards. I think the Obama will eventually be the odd man out.

14. I personally hope he doesn't endorse either one and just backs
whoever wins the primary. Neither one of them are close enough to him on the important issues IMO.

16. Or.....
he could be waiting and watching to see if Hillary's "suurogates' continue to play dirty politics and THEN throw his support to Obama when he believes it'll be most helpful. Al Gore is the guy I'm wondering a lot about today. If there ever was a time to endorse someone as to help them it would be BEFORE Super Tuesday

13. A lot of speculation about JE angling for AG in whoever's admin
Anybody wonder if, given his much more populist than lawyerly approach, he might be angling for Howard Dean's job? Seems to me he could be a very effective inheritor of the 50 state strategy.

Just a thought.
