Clinton Campaign Announces "Voices Across America: A National Town Hall"
Press release.

On Monday February 4, 2008, the Clinton campaign will host an unprecedented live webcast town hall with 21 Super Tuesday states participating simultaneously in the conversation by satellite. It will be the first time in presidential campaign history that voters in the Super Tuesday states can have their voices heard in a single national town hall. The event, called "Voices Across America: A National Town Hall" will be simulcast starting at 9 p.m. EST on www.hillaryclinton.com.

"On Super Tuesday, millions of Americans will have an opportunity to have their voices heard in this important election," said Hillary Clinton. "This national town hall will allow all voters to participate in the conversation that I began with the American public a year ago and discuss the issues that matter to them so they can be fully informed when they cast their ballot the following day. From a faltering economy to the many challenges we face abroad, Americans are ready for a president who will deliver the real solutions we need."

The 22 cities where the campaign will host events are Birmingham, AL; Phoenix, AZ; Little Rock, AR; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; Hartford, CT; Wilmington, DE; Athens, GA; Boise, ID; Chicago, IL; Wichita, KS; Boston, MA; St. Paul, MN; Kansas City, MO; Cherry Hill, NJ; Albuquerque, NM; New York, NY; Grand Forks, ND; Tulsa, OK; Knoxville, TN; Salt Lake City, UT.

Hillary Clinton will anchor the town hall in New York, while President Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and national and local surrogates will serve as hosts at events in the other states. Voters attending the events will be able to ask questions from these satellite events directly to Hillary Clinton in New York. In addition, Clinton will take questions submitted by voters online at www.hillaryclinton.com/townhall.

1. Oh please - someone from one of those cities...please ask....
Would you consider pledging to open the books on all the events of the last four decades including IranContra, BCCI, and CIA drugrunning operations that have led to the terrorism and war policies we are living with today?

44. I hope she'll talk about a few of the things she's
worked like a dog for - she doesn't really tout her greatest accomplishments much.
She got a did a tremendous amount for the Nurses - yeah WORKING PEOPLE. Not corporate hacks like
her enemies claim. Also her work for children. She has done so much for so many. You
realize how unglamorous her life must be.

22. Since those events were the base for CURRENT/FUTURE terror issues, why do you think
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 02:32 PM by blm
they should not be discussed as part of the study to STOP terrorism and its spread?

How odd that people are NOT expected to learn about terror issues but should just ACCEPT that they exist without examination.

How odd that a Dem would even think that terrorism and war policy will NOT be part of the candidate's platform and policy positions.

How very odd. Especially from a DU Dem.

30. How odd that a DU Dem would need "books opened" on
Iran/Contra, BCCI, CIA drug running etc. The rest of us are well versed.

41. There have been many documents kept from public view on those matters.
Are you of the persuasion that those matters were entirely vetted and all papers brought forth?

Odd - I never saw any evidence that happened. And Robert Parry said it never happened - and I would imagine that he would have kept a vigilant eye more so than you.

42. Are you saying today's terrorism and war policies have no link to what occurred
in those matters?

Can you please share with us YOUR idea about how global terrorism was funded throughout the last oh, let's say, just the last 20 years?

55. You think the 80s are old news - I say the 80s were key to gloibal terrorism and
the books need to be opened so more American CITIZENS can understand the issue and the consequences of the ongoing protection of secrecy and privilege.

You seem to find that an unworthy matter and made a dismissive comment. Why not explain yourself?

And if you're in a Super Tuesday State you can travel to where one of these meetings is being held.

Edwards had indicated that at least he might. (sorry I don't have a link for that; I believe I read it recently in passing on DU).

*If* Edwards gets an atty. general appointment, he might have some degree of autonomy to pursue investigations. I have no idea how this might be playing behind the scenes.

And I really want to know Hillary's position on this.

on edit: I posted this question to Hillary:
The Bush administration engaged in massive abuses of power over the past 7 years. There is substantial evidence that it has even violated U.S. Laws. What effort will your administration make to investigate and prosecute these abuses of power, if not outright crimes? And will you make a commitment to *not* pardon any members of the Bush administration should they be indicted?
