Obama edges Hillary in Merrick, NY (LI) straw poll (my democratic club)

Democratic candidate Sen. Barack Obama edged out Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton at a straw poll and candidates forum in Merrick Wednesday night.

The vote was 143 to 108, but Clinton representatives said the vote doesn't reflect the depth of her support.

"The mother of three who is at home taking care of her kids will vote for Clinton on Tuesday, but she was not here tonight," said Michael J. Santeramo, executive director of the Nassau County Democratic Committee.

About 350 people participated in the poll at Temple Beth Am, which was organized by the Bellmore-Merrick Democratic Club.

I am a member of this club. I was at the event. The Obama people did an amazing job of turning out their support.









The Kucinich person was allowed to speak. The lady from the League of Women Voters was a terrific moderator.

4. The club did amazing.
They made some money on it, and increased the size of their volunteer list tremendously. It was great success.

just curious, because it says 350 participated, but those totals only equal 250.

9. Edwards got 3 votes, but...
Edwards had a speaker scheduled who was going to bring in support. 3 good souls still voted for him. 2 for Kucinich. 2 blanks :shrug:

8. Obama's gonna get wiped out in NY
Upstate's gonna go 70-30 for Clinton.

NYC will go 50-43% for Clinton.

LI will go 55-40 for Clinton.

She wins by 12% easy.
