Here is an idea: Shut up and actually do something
Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 12:59 AM by wheresthemind
Super Tuesday is only five days away. Instead of wasting your time making posts on Democratic Underground that will have absolutely ZERO effect on the presidential race or people’s lives you actually DO SOMETHING MEANINGFUL for the candidate or (if your candidate has dropped out) the cause you believe in.

Every time you think about being an armchair strategist GO VOLUNTEER:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/actioncenter
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/actioncenter/
http://www.volunteermatch.org/

Every time you think about “flaming” someone MAKE A DONATION:

https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/scvictory?source=mainnav
https://contribute.hillaryclinton.com/form.html?sc=1
https://pol.moveon.org/donate/donate.html

Every time you see a post that infuriates you do NOT respond, PHONE BANK real live voters in Super Tuesday states instead:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/phonebankinglanding/
http://tools.hillaryclinton.com/calling/

There are so many states and so much real work to be done that there should be no excuse for the amount of time some people are spending on DU accomplishing absolutely nothing for the causes they claim to be so committed to. DO SOMETHING.

1. Don't assume
that just because people post here means that they do nothing else.

3. I would never...
as someone who has gone from NH to SC and now back to MN in the last month and still posted this. : )

But I think some people's priorities here are very skewed.

4. Thanks but my voice is gone. I am sitting on my hands until Nov when I will
yawn and make a decision.

Best of luck though!

5. If your candidate is gone and you have time
then click the first volunteer link and do something in your community instead. Anything is better then DU at this point.

7. I have an email out to Habitat for Humanity right now
You are right and I can't wait to actually be a part of a process that isn't ginned up where I can make a difference.

Tonight, I sulk.

Thanks for the post.

9. Volunteering for Habitat is awesome
It's a great way to combine being outdoors, getting exercise and volunteerism. Congratulations.

12. Maybe I'll go volunteer at the local animal shelter...
...and just forget about this crap. I just don't have any desire to do anything for HillBama - maybe something else though.

15. With All Due Respect
Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 10:04 AM by Crisco
There seem to be two groups of people here.

One is a group of Democratic & Liberal-minded people who are regular contributors (I'm speaking more about participating than financing, but perhaps as much) to DU.

The other is a group of party / candidate activists who mostly lurk and emerge to use DU as a marketing / campaign tool during primary season, then use the boards as a dog uses a fire hydrant when the regular posters aren't receptive towards your message. Frankly I'm beyond tired of them, most of those I find go straight into my Ignore list.

Then you have the plain-out trolls ...
