Game On, Rasmussen CA: Clinton 43 Obama 40 (Edwards 9)
http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/california/election_2008_california_democratic_presidential_primary

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in California shows Hillary Clinton with a very narrow three-percentage point lead over Barack Obama. The survey was conducted in the hours immediately following Florida’s Presidential Primary and before John Edwards dropped out of the race.

1. Wow!
My Maryland vote (on 02/12) might count after all. Obama is growing nationally and he might gain a lot of delegates on Tuesday to be neck-and-neck with Sen. Clinton. GOBAMA!

2. but Rasmussen had it +5 two weeks ago
So their polls may be running high for Obama. (Or other polls may be running low.)

We'll see what happens next. This should be a very interesting week.

3. I wonder how these polls, whether they are totally accurate or not, will affect
the focus of the debate.

5. I think the polls fit with the overall dynamic
Clinton remains the frontrunner -- and in fact Gallup's national tracking poll, last I saw, gave her a slightly bigger lead than right after Iowa, which is to say that it was really small then -- but clearly it's a competitive race. Both of them will win a bunch of delegates on Tuesday.

So... big debate, at least potentially. And the sad thing is that, as with other debates, if this one has an impact, it probably won't be the effect on people who watch the whole thing, but rather how people react to the ten-second snips that get the most play afterwards. I'm not even ragging on the media (or voters), especially; that's just how it goes.
